JESUS HEAL THE MAN BORN BLIND

JOHN 9:1-2
9 As he went along, he saw a man
blind from birth. 2 His disciples
asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this
man or his parents, that he was born
blind?”
1. It was a common belief in the Jewish
Culture that once a person has been struck
by a Calamity, Disease and Suffering, the
person suffering has greatly sinned or his
parents has sinned against God or others.
2. We are now in a society that many times
good behavior does not always rewarded
and bad behavior is not always punished.
Therefore innocent people sometimes suffer

Why do God allowed the Blind Man be blind?
What is the reason why God made the man blind?
JOHN 9:3-5
3 “Neither this man nor his parents
sinned,” said Jesus, “but this
happened so that the works of God
might be displayed in him. 4 As long
as it is day, we must do the works of
him who sent me. Night is coming,
when no one can work. 5 While I am
in the world, I am the light of the
world.”
1. The Blind man have been blind so that
the people will see and realized the works of
God through Jesus our Lord.
2. Why? Jesus came to show to the people
that He is the chosen one of God. To prove
to them that He is the chosen one, He
performed signs and miracles to this blind
man
3. Jesus reiterates that He is the Light of the
world. The light that can bring path to the
people to eternal life
What do we need to do when we experience the
suffering and problems
What is the reason why God made the man blind?

JOHN 9:6-7
6 After saying this, he spit on the
ground, made some mud with the
saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes.
7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the
Pool of Siloam” (this word means
“Sent”). So the man went and
washed, and came home seeing.
1. Why do Jesus need to spit on the ground
and made mud to repair the man’s eyes?
Like God who made Adam from the
ground, Jesus was demonstrating the
creator’s awareness of the materials he used
to shape the human body
2. Pool of Siloam was an underground
tunnel connected to a spring to give the
people water into the city. So people are not
afraid in getting attacked.

1. The Blind man has experience God’s goodness in everyday of his
life? Why? Even though he is blind people are still providing him
food and all the things he need to survive in life.
2. He acknowledge that God gave him parents that did not abandoned
him during his lifetime.

8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen
him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who
used to sit and beg?” 9 Some claimed that he
was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”
But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” 10 “How
then were your eyes opened?” they asked. 11 He
replied, “The man they call Jesus made some
mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to
Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and
then I could see.”12 “Where is this man?” they
asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.
1. People are now also testifying that he is
the man who was begging and blind since
birth
2. Some do not believe.
3. But the only one who can confirm is the
blind man. He also testified how Jesus made
him see for the first time.

he will be persecuted

JOHN 9:13-17
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had
been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had
made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a
Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him
how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my
eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I
see.” 16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is
not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such
signs?” So they were divided. 17 Then they turned
again to the blind man, “What have you to say
about him? It was your eyes he opened.” The man
replied, “He is a prophet.”
1. Now the blind man has been persecuted
because he was healed from blindness.
2. The Pharisees has become obsessed with
the Sabbatical Law that made them forget
the true meaning of the law. Love your
neighbor as yourself.
3. Sabbath prohibits Kneading of Clay or
healing so the Pharisees claim that it is not
from God
4. The Blind Man believes in Jesus and he
bet his life on it. Why? What will happened
to the man?

PRAY and PRAISE during the Trial and Suffering
1. The Blind man has pray continually because Jesus would have gone
to other blind if the blind man has not prayed and believe
2. During his life, he might have continually praise God because
everyday of his life was dependent on God in everything. Food,

3. Job 1:20-21 - 20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his
head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said: “Naked I
came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord

praised.”
4. In the times of trials remember to pray and praise God. In that way,
God can be pleased and can moved in your life
JOHN 9:7-9
18 They still did not believe that he had been blind
and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s
parents. 19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the
one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can
see?” 20 “We know he is our son,” the parents
answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But
how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t
know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for
himself.” 22 His parents said this because they were
afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided
that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the
Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 23 That
was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
1. Now the Pharisees cannot believe and
asked the parents of the blind man.
2. The parents are afraid to answer and
testify about the miracles done by Jesus.
Why? They might be excommunicated.
3. For the many miracles done by the Lord
Jesus, the Pharisees still investigated and
debated.
4. The Pharisees skepticism was not based
on the inefficient of evidence but rather
jealousy in Jesus’ influence in the lives of
the people

UBEY GOD’S WORD in times of CRISIS
1. The Blind man has obeyed Jesus even though he was hopeless since
he has never seen. He made an obeyed and even made effort to go to
the pool.
2. The Blind man obeyed even though it sound illogical and
inappropriate.
3. Miracles happens when we continuously obey him even in times of
crisis
4. Daniel obeyed God’s word to pray even though it was illegal and
Ubey God’s Word because he obeyed he was saved from the lion den

JOHN 9:7-9
24 A second time they summoned the man who had
been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,”
they said. “We know this man is a sinner.” 25 He
replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know.
One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” 26
Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How
did he open your eyes?” 27 He answered, “I have told
you already and you did not listen. Why do you want
to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples
too?” 28 Then they hurled insults at him and said,
“You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of
Moses! 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as
for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes
from.”
1. Still Pharisees persist in voiding the
miracle of Jesus by persecuting the blind
man.
2. The Blind Man did not base his belief in
Jesus using the bible but rather Jesus truly
touched his life.
3. Believing in Jesus does not only exist in
the bible but rather he truly exist in each
and everyone of us.
4. Believing in Jesus can cause persecution
just like this healed man. He was persecuted
after believing in Jesus

BELIEVE THAT GOD HAS A PLAN
1. The Blind man has believe and obeyed Jesus even though he was
hopeless since he has never seen. He believe and went to the pool.
2. Many miracle formula involved believing and efforting to receive the
miracle.
3. Genesis 21:2 “Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in
his old age, at the very time God had promised him.”
4. Abraham did not just believe he made an effort even though he was
almost 100 years old

5. Matthew 19:16 “With God, All things are possible”

30 The man answered, “Now that is
remarkable! You don’t know where he comes
from, yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know
that God does not listen to sinners. He listens
to the godly person who does his will. 32
Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes
of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not
from God, he could do nothing.”
34 To this they replied, “You were steeped in
sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And
they threw him out.
1. The blind man did not know much about
the bible nor did he studied the law of
Moses and the prophets. But he was
courageous enough to defy the unreasonable
teaching of the Pharisees, who have studied
the law and the old testament.
2. In life, we may not studied the whole
bible but one thing we can do is to testify
and present to others how Jesus transformed
our lives and surely it is more powerful than
any scholarly explanation of the bible.
3. Many may abandon us when we have
come into Christ like this blind man who
was healed.
JOHN 9:7-9
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and
when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the
Son of Man?” 36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked.
“Tell me so that I may believe in him.” 37 Jesus said,
“You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one
speaking with you.” 38 Then the man said, “Lord, I
believe,” and he worshiped him. 39 Jesus said, “For
judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind
will see and those who see will become blind.” 40
Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this
and asked, “What? Are we blind too?” 41 Jesus said,
“If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but
now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
1. Jesus now declare that He is the Son of
Man. The blind man now receive the gift of
physical sight but also spiritual sight.
2. First the Blind man saw Jesus as a
Prophet, then as His Lord. When we come
to Christ, we will clearly understand who
He is and what will he do in our life. So if
we want to know more about Jesus keep
trusting in him in every area of your life
3. Look for Jesus in your life that you may
find out that truly He is God
