• REBT OR Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is an

deal with irrational beliefs and learn how to manage their

• Previously called rational therapy and rational emotive therapy, is an
active-directive, philosophically and empirically based psychotherapy, the
aim of which is to resolve emotional and behavioral problems and
disturbances and to help people to lead happier and more fulfilling lives.

• Rational Emotive Therapy is the first form of cognitive

• The main difference between CBT and REBT is that CBT

aims to change the current negative and destructive
behavior of someone, and REBT targets to change the
negative and lethal perspective or belief of someone.

• It helps patients develop a more positive outlook by restructuring these

• REBT therapists strive to help their clients develop three types of

REBT generally teaches that when people turn flexible preferences, desires and

show how we jump from an event to our feelings and reactions.
