PROMOTION
• Promotion means advancement of
employee to a higher post with greater
responsibilities and higher salary, better
service conditions and thus higher status.
• It is a basic dream of every employee/
staff of an organisation.
OBJECTIVES
• To recognize an individual’s performance and
reward him for his work.
• To put the employee in a position where he
will be of greater value to the company.
• To promote job satisfaction among the
employees and give them an opportunity for
unbroken continuous service.
ADVANTAGES
• It provides an opportunity for the present staff
to move into jobs that provide greater personal
satisfaction and prestige.
• It provides opportunity to the management to
provide recognition and incentives to better
employees.
• It serves as an orderly logical and prompt
source of recruitment for management to fill
vacancies as they arise.
PROMOTIONAL MIX
• The specific mix of promotional methods that a
business uses to pursue its marketing objectives.
• The main elements of mix are:-
- Advertising
- Sales promotion
- Personal selling
- Public relations
- Direct marketing
ADVERTISING
• Paid for communication.
• Many different advertising media(TV, radio,
newspaper).
• Consumers subjected to many advertising
message each day that are hard to get
through.
• Mass market advertising is very expensive.
SALES PROMOTION
• Tactical, point of sale material or other
incentives designed to stimulate
purchases.
• Short term incentives to increase sales.
• Some promotion aimed at consumers
others at intermediaries or sales force.
PERSONAL SELLING
• Promotion on a person to person basis.
• Two way communications.
• Meeting with potential customers to
close a sale.
• By telephone, at meetings, in retail
outlets and by knocking on doors.

Activities that create goodwill toward an
individual, business, cause or product. It is to
achieve favourable publicity about the
business.

* DIRECT MARKETING:-
Promotional material directed through
mail, email or telephone to individual
households or businesses.
