The death of JFK

• On the 22 November 1963, in Parkland Health, Dallas, Texas JFK


was assassinated in a car with his wife. The car turned off Main
Street at Dealey Plaza around 12:30 p.m. As it was passing the
Texas School Book, gunfire suddenly shot in the plaza. Bullets
struck the president's neck and head and he slumped over toward
Mrs. Kennedy. Kennedy was shot in the back of his head.
Who assassinated JFK

• The confirmed killer of JFK was Lee Harvey Oswald


• Oswald who attended various schools through his education (12)
however quit when he was 17.
• Shortly after Oswald became a U.S Marine veteran but was
released from duty.
• Oswald then flew to Europe and defected to the Soviet Union in
October 1959. He lived in Minsk, Byelorussia, married a Russian
woman.
How did Oswald Kill JFK

• Evidence supports the conclusion that the shot was fired from the sixth floor
of the Texas School Book Depository building.
• It was believed that Oswald killed Kennedy from a single bullet from a Sniper.
• 45 minutes later after the killing of Kennedy Oswald killed a Dallas police
officer J.D Tippet on a local street.
• Shortly after Oswald hide a movie theater where he was found by Dallas
police. He was arrested for Tippits murder.
• However, he was Charged of the killing of Kennedy and Tippit but was fatally
shot two days later by the local nightclub owner Jack Ruby in the basement
of Dallas police headquarters.
What was the motive/theories behind the
assassination?

• There are theories that allege the involvement of the CIA, the
Mafia, Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro, the KGB.
• However, the many believe that Oswald (who couldn’t make it in
the Soviet Union) thought if he killed Kennedy he would flee to a
Communist country, most likely, Cuba, where he would be
welcomed with open arms in the Communist world.
IS there any other theories of the
assassination?

• Toni Glover - who saw the killing aged 11 - thinks there may have
been a second shooter. Toni thinks the second shooter - if there was one
- could have been on the other side of the road.
• Jefferson Morley a former Washington Post reporter who wrote several
books on the killing tends to doubt that Oswald shot JFK. Morley believed
it's more likely the fatal shot came from in front of Kennedy rather than
behind.
