Meaning of the quote
The importance of the quote is that things we take for granted such as art and languages
have been handed down through generations.
This is our heritage as well as buildings, artifacts, archaeological sites, cuisine, traditions,
music, dance, etc.
It is our responsibility to ensure that it is passed on to subsequent generations.
We experience culture and heritage through many mediums, which are either tangible or
intangible.
• Tangible mediums of heritage are often physical things such as artifacts or buildings.
This can include things like castles, pottery or works of art.
• Intangible heritage is not usually a physical object. Instead, it is made up of the traditional
practices, expressions, knowledge or skills of a community.
Examples of intangible heritage include the kind of food we eat and traditional cooking
methods, traditional music and dancing.
