WEATHER

VS
SEASON 1
WEATHER
◍ refers to the temporary conditions of the
atmosphere, the layer of air that surrounds
the Earth.
◍ It moves, and changes from hour to hour or
day to day.
2
ATMOSPHERE
◍ is a jacket of gases that surrounds our planet.
It keeps us warm, gives us oxygen to breathe,
and it is where our weather happens.
◍ stretches from the surface of the planet up to
as far as 10,000 kilometers (6,214 miles)
above.

SEASON
◍ used to describe general weather conditions of a specific
region which takes an average period of three months.
◍ combination of several weather patterns which may include
high temperatures and dry winds with low humidity to ice
regions with negative temperatures

TROPICAL CYCLONE
- a rapid rotating storm originating over
tropical oceans from where it draws the
energy to develop. It has a low pressure
centre and clouds spiraling towards the
eyewall surrounding the "eye", the central
part of the system where the weather is
normally calm and free of clouds.

WHAT IS A
TYPHOON?
16
TYPHOON
◍ Tropical cyclone
◍ An intense circular storm
that originates over warm
tropical oceans
◍ Low atmospheric pressure
◍ High winds
◍ Heavy rains

18
PRE-CONDITIONS FOR TYPHOONS

1. PRE-EXISTING DISTURBANCE
2. WARM OCEAN WATER
3. LOW ATMOSPHERIC STABILITY
4. SUFFICIENT CORIOLIS FORCE
5. MOIST MID-ATMOSPHERE
19
HOW TYPHOONS
DEVELOP?
1.

Typhoons start off as

tropical thunderstorms.
The strong winds pull in
moisture from the
oceans.

21
2.

The thunderstorms
convert the moisture into
heat. The heat causes
more air to flow to the
centre of the storm
causing evaporation.
22
3.

All the heat and

air flow toward
the eye creating
the typhoon.
