CANDLE TIPS AND

TRICKS
BROUGHT TO YOU BY EXOTIC SCENTSATIONS
WET SPOTS

• What are wet spots?

• Ever noticed on your candles you’d see little random dots or one big spot . Well those are wet spots.
• These spots are caused by shrinkage and air bubbles that form during the cooling process of candle
making. Part of the wax pulls away from the glassware giving it this particular look.
• Wet spots are also formed when there is a difference or change in temperature and are pretty common
especially in homemade, hand-poured candles. Even big name companies’ candles may form wet spots
over time.
• Measures can be taken in order to reduce wet spots however eventually they will form.
TRIMMING YOUR WICK

• It is recommended that you keep your wick trimmed at 1/4in for optimal candle use.
• Having too long a wick may result in a faster burn rate which then causes you to use up your candle that
much faster.
• A short wick allows for a cleaner, brighter burn. It also helps your candle to last longer.
• We recommend using a wick trimmer to trim your wicks. While a scissors may work it’ll be difficult to
trim the wick efficiently with it once it gets low in the jar. Whereas wick trimmers are designed at an
angle for that very purpose.
• Exotic Scentsations has every intention to provide you with the opportunity to purchase your own wick
trimmer in the near future. For now we‘re happy to provide you with the service of trimming your wicks
for the low price of $1/candle.

BURN TIME

• Here at Exotic Scentsations we recommend burning our candles for a maximum of 4 hours at a time.
• This allows for optimal sensory satisfaction from our product.
• This is because after a while the body becomes used to and adjusted to the scent.
• By taking a break after the 4 hours the body is able to reacquaint itself with the scent and enjoy it all
over again as if for the first time.
• Also after 4 hours the candle gets too hot and begins to evaporate fragrance oil and burn off quicker.

AVOID SUNLIGHT

• Avoid placing your candles where they’ll be exposed directly to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting like
spotlights as these can damage your candles.
• Luckily all of our candles at Exotic Scentsations are made with UV Inhibitors to protect your candles
from UV lights and help prevent damaging.
