Science teachers play a central role in educating, inspiring and guiding students to become
responsible, scientifically literate citizens.
Roles and responsibilities of science teachers
 Teachers have to share ideas, discuss educational issues, and participate in collaborative
planning.
 Use all learning styles in every lesson.
 Provide freedom to respond.
 Use variety of efficient teaching methods.
 Use modern techniques to foster creativity.
 Be polite to the students, listen to their problems and try to solve it.
 Be update in the knowledge of course/subject and current affairs.
 Motivate and appreciate students talents.
 Encourage students’ involvement in science club activities.
 Foster scientific attitude, critical and creative thinking in students.
 Encourage students to develop a lasting interest in science.
 Conduct action research in science education and actively participate in innovative science.
programmes for better science teaching.
 Provide students the necessary information and explanation for every phenomenon.
 Motivate students to understand ,analyse and think scientifically against superstitions.
 Foster logical thinking and make a scientifc outlook in life.
 Reduce fear and hesitation towards science subject.
 Evaluate the assignment by giving marks or grade and return it timely.
 Conduct science related quizzes, presentations, discussions periodically.
 Give necessary instructions and guidelines regarding laboratory activities.
