PRAYER BEFORE CLASS

Loving father, we praise and honor you today.

As we start our class, may we have a good mind and
body, so that we may study well.
Help us understand and remember the things that we
will learn. May the holy spirit grant our teacher's
knowledge and wisdom. May we be happy as we learn
new things, we ask this through Christ, our Lord,
Amen.

Our Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for us

Let Jesus live in our hearts, forever.
NEEDS OF
LIVING
THINGS
Objectives of the Day:

 Identify the basic needs of

living things.
Animals and people need food to live and grow healthy. Like
humans, every animal must eat to stay alive. The food that
animals eat helps to keep them strong and well.
Animals and humans need water to stay alive. They need to
replace the water that is lost form their bodies as they work.
They will die of dehydration if they do not drink water.

All living things need air in order to live. Humans
and animals breathe in air to stay alive. The part
of the air that they need is oxygen.
Animals need suitable shelter to protect themselves and their young from bad weather
and from their enemies. There is a big difference between the shelter of animals and
that of humans. Our houses are much bigger than the houses of animals and usually
have separate spaces for sleeping, for cooking, for eating, and for playing.
