IT ACT 2000:
• The Information Technology In 2000 is
an Act parliament notified on 17th
October 2000.
• It is the primary law in India dealing
with electronic commerce and cyber
crimes.
• It is the first Act established in India for
the Information Technology in 2000.

OBJECTIVE OF THE IT ACT:


1. Legal recognition to all transactions.
2. Legal recognition to digital signature.
3. Electronic filling of documents.
4. Electronic storage of data.
5. Legal sanction to electronic transfer of fund.
6. Legal recognition to bankers.

APPLICABILITY OF IT ACT:

• According to section 1(2) of IT Act extends to entire


country.
• This Act also extends to extra territorial jurisdiction.

NON APPLICABILITY OF IT ACT:

The Act has not been made applicable to certain instruments or


documents into their electronic functional equivalent.

NON APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS:
According to section 1 (4)
1. Execution of Negotiable instrument
2. Execution of a power of Attorney
3. Creation of a trust
4. Execution of a will
5. Entering into a contract for the sale of immovable property
6. Any category of transaction or documents notified by Central
Government

REASON FOR NON APPLICABILITY:
• Such documents are required to be authenticated
only by the hand written signatures.
• These documents required attestation and/on
registration formalities.

CONCLUSION:

The Act is a step towards protecting the data and sensitive


information stored with the intermediaries online. It gives
various provisions which benefit the citizens and protect their
data from being misused or lost.
