HISTORY OF SMART HOMES

• Science fiction before the 20th Century

• Electrical Home Appliances first invented in Early 1900s .(dishwasher, vacuum,
heater, etc.)
• Home Automations were only some ideas in early 20th Century.
• 1966 Jim Sutherland, ECHO IV (Home Automation System)
• 1985: National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
• The term Smart House first introduced.
• 1.5 million installed in the US in 2012.
• Continuing to grow today with over 8 million installations by 2017
SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY
1. WIRING METHOD: such as KNX,C-BUS

Just one hub price is 1000 USD above, and all the operations are efficiently controlled by a central Hub.
One complete smart home is at least 5000USD above, and it's 5 times of wireless smart home

2. WIRELESS METHOD:

• Bluetooth : it is suitable for the voice transmission between two devices, such as Bluetooth headset,
but it's not proper for smart home because of limited connection number.

• RFID: it is suitable for simple command signal with small data and low security requirements, such
as all kinds of RFID remote controller. but it's not proper for smart home because of too low security.

• WIFI: it is suitable for complex and Big data transmission, such as internet access for cellphone,
laptop, but it's not proper for smart home because of security problem and limited connection number.
