Stages of interview – Before, During & After

Before the Interview


1. Research the organization
• Visit the organization’s website, review the organization's background and mission statement.
• Assess their products, services, ongoing project and client-base.
• Try to figure out the size of company, how many employees they have and what kind of work environment they
offer. 
2. Compare your skills and qualifications to the job requirements.
3. Plan what to wear.
4. Plan what to bring
• Extra copies of your resume on quality paper
• A notepad or professional binder and pen
5. Sleep well the night before
6. Eat Breakfast/Lunch before the interview
During the Interview
1. Arrive early
Make sure to arrive at least 15-25 minutes before the interview begins.

2. Dress for success - Formalwear

3. Do not place anything on their desk

4. Do not peep into their Computer


During the Interview

Non verbal communication

• Smile, establish eye contact and use a firm handshake


• Sit straight yet comfortably.
• Be aware of nervous gestures such as foot-tapping.

Verbal Communication

• Do not criticize a former employer during interview.


• Never use slang.
• Don’t try to be over smart— instead present yourself as a confident and sensible professional.

After the Interview

1. Ask relevant questions such as –


• How will my performance be evaluated?
• What are the opportunities?
• What are the next steps in the hiring process?

2. Shake hands with the interviewer(s) and thank them for their time.
 
3. Keep your head held high and leave with confidence.
