Kindergarten
• In Hungary, all children over the age of 3 are
required to haveand all children and young
people from the age of 6 to the age of 16 must
bemust attend school. compulsory schooling is
completed by attending kindergarten and
school (orin rare, justified cases) by private
schooling.(Private pupils do not attend school
but take examinationstheir knowledge at
examinations.)If a person persistently fails to
attend nursery or school, his/her parents are
held responsible.
Middle School
• The child shall be entitled to a pension for the year in which,
by 31 August of the sixth(or at the latest in the year
following). Onprimary education is free and accessible to all,
i.e.everyone is admitted. The language of instruction is
Hungarian.language of instruction is the language of
instruction in two-language schools, schools providing
nationalCorporal punishment of children is prohibited.In
general, children attend primary school up to the age of 8,
but there are,However, some children go to secondary
school after the 4th or 6th grade. Primary schoolis divided
into lower (grades 1 to 4) and upper (grades 5 to 8). Lower
schoolis taught by class teachers, while in the upperthe class
teacher is responsible for the classes, and different subject
teachers teach different subjects.
High School

• Secondary education is free and accessible


to all, i.e.everyone is admitted to some
form of secondary school until they
complete the16 years of age. As in primary
school, boys and girls are placed in mixed
classes.classes and the situation for private
pupils is the same. (See 11.1The language
of instruction remains the same, andof
course, corporal punishment of pupils is
prohibited.At the end of secondary
education, pupils have to pass a school-
leaving examination (in gymnasium andor
a vocational examination (in vocational

Usa

• It usually runs from kindergarten to 5th or 6th
grade. A child can be enrolled in kindergarten if he
or she has reached the age of by 2 December of
the year in question. Kindergarten is not
Kindergarten: compulsory, but most kindergartens start on
children start at the age of five. Before that, it is
possible to go to preschool,which is practically the
equivalent of kindergarten in Hungary. Bound
programme there is no compulsory programme,
children learn basic skills in a playful way.
2. Middle school:
• 2nd Secondary School: i.e. grades 5/6-8. Usually a
separate school, unless
• Unless it is a 12-grade school system.
• It lasts from grades 9-12. On
successful completion of
year 12, students receive a
"high school diploma".
Those who do not receive
such a certificate can take
the General Education
Development (GED) test,
which is a certificate of
secondary school
knowledge.

UK
teaching
Kindergarten
• After the age of 3, all children are entitled to 15 hours of free
pre-school education per week, up to a maximum of 570
hours per 38 weeks per year. Free early learning is available in
England until the age of compulsory schooling. Most nurseries
and kindergartens in England are usually privately owned and
cater for children from 6 weeks to 5 years. They are all
registered and their work is inspected annually.

• Private institutions have discretion over how old they take


children, and may be able to accommodate babies as young as
2 months old. Most nursery places need to be booked months
in advance, and the most popular places enrol children as
soon as they are born.
High school
• 11-16 years - secondary school. Students study a
large number of compulsory subjects up to the age
of 14. From the age of 14, a two-year baccalaureate
programme starts, where students choose 5-10
subjects and spend two years preparing for the
central examination in the chosen subjects.
• The school leaving certificate is an important stage
in the education pathway, as it ends compulsory
education and gives students the opportunity to
continue their education. At school, you can
continue your higher education (A-level), go to a
vocational college or start a job.
