VALENTINE
Valentine’s day is on February 14.
On that day, people send cards
to the ones they love.
People in love give each
other flowers and
presents.
BUT WHO WAS VALENTINE?
Valentine was a man who
lived one thousand
seven hundred
years ago.
He liked to see
people in love.
He wanted people to start families.
But Emperor Claudius
did not agree.
He wanted men to
become soldiers.

When Emperor Claudius
heard about this,
he was furious.
He put Valentine in jail.
Valentine spent
twenty years in jail.
 Claudius had
Valentine killed on
February 14.
On that day, Valentine is celebrated
because he was a good man…
…who helped couples in love
to get married.
