The shipping industry has been around for centuries and it has undergone some major changes in the last century. The
introduction of new technologies and practices have led to a significant improvement in the quality of service.

Traditionally, the shipping industry was based on a process called "just-in-time" production, which is characterized by low
inventory levels and high responsiveness to customer demand.

However, over time there has been a shift towards "just-in-case" production with higher inventories and less
responsiveness to customer demand. This shift is due to increased competition between shipping companies.

In order to stay competitive, many companies are implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) practices into their
organization's culture.

TQM focuses on continuous improvement by taking an active role in the quality process from start to finish. It also focuses
on customer satisfaction by ensuring that all customers receive high quality goods that meet their expectations.

as a transportation means.

3. Environment protection- means pollution control against sea caused by ship

operation or accident and polluted air emitted by ship s engine.

• Based on the review of literature, this study states that the Tqm has a plays a effective role in shipping and the main aim of TQM is to reduce errors, defects, and
problems in the shipping process.

• In the shipping industry, TQM has been shown to have a positive impact on both the bottom line and customer satisfaction. TQM can be implemented in a number of
different ways, depending on the needs of the organization

• The shipping industry has long been an important part of the global economy, and the application of TQM principles can help to ensure that the industry remains a vital
part of the global economy.

• This shipping industry is one of the most regulated and intensive industries in terms of physical resources and the most important and the largest source of primary
products for the rest of the world. The actual rewards that the shipping companies can offer to their employees are not enough as they cannot sustain the level of growth
which is necessary to continue building their business and remain in the industry alive. Therefore, in order to meet this challenge, shipping companies are implementing
new and improved business practices.

• The shipping industry is undergoing a dramatic change with the emerging of new technology and LSA in the international marketplace. A shift towards more efficient and
cost effective distribution networks will require a better understanding of how to effectively manage the resources in this industry and that is where TQM comes into the
picture.
