4. What are the top five most controversial games and why?

Top five controversial games are:

1. Call of duty: Modern Warfare 2 “No Russian”
The “No Russian” mission was probably one of the most controversial missions in the
franchise or any other shooter for that matter. The mission, though optional, places the user
amongst a Russian Terrorist group as an undercover in circumstances of which, the user is
forced to commit a massacre at an airport. It seemed that the intent of the scriptwriter was
to make the scene to be deliberately disturbing and upsetting, but also something that
people could relate to. Not that the sales of the game were affected with this controversy,
but it’s a popular opinion that the mission was one of the most morally reprehensible thing
that they could do, upon completion, made them feel pretty much like bad.
2. Resident Evil 5
No sooner did the first game footage of Resident Evil 5 get released, it was under some
heavy scrutiny for racism. Set in the fictional village in Africa, Chris Redfield has to shoot
down as many of the African zombies – this of course caused an intellectual riot where critiques
argues the game played into the colonial sense of the dominant white male to treat Africans as
“savages”. The game also was seen to have strong rape insinuations where the African Zombie
drags a white woman off to be “infected”. However, most people disagreed with this entire
analysis, including the University of Kent and the British Board of Film Classification saying
that there was nothing “racist” about the game and in fact had an “anti-colonialist” theme.
3. Silent hill 2 “Rape Scene”
Silent Hill 2 is easily one the bone-chilling games ever and frankly had many
players on the end of their pants though most part of it. While you slowly explore the
creepy house and in weak attempts are try to hide away from monsters, you run into the
Pyramid Head doing…things to two mannequins with female lower bodies. Not only is
that scary as hell, but it’s scarring to a very different level. Though in the recent HD
version of the game that was released in 2012, the developers sought it right to
wordlessly remove the rape scene. Be that as it may, I can’t un-see what I saw.
4. Doom
Though there was nothing outwardly “wrong” about the game per se, it is said to be
described as the “mass murder simulator” for its violent gun fare and graphic violence,
not to mention, the satanic references. One of the reasons this game got an infamous drag
in the controversial list is because of the Columbine High School Massacre of 1999. The
two teens that gunned down their classmates and teacher were known to play Doom and
Mortal Kombat in excess, causing people to believe that it was the games influence on the
teens and indirectly, the cause of the massacre. A rumour went about suggesting that the
Columbine shooters had created a level in Doom that resembled the High School in order
to prepare for the attack. This however, was of course not true or proven as the level was
never found.
5. Rapeplay
The game itself was the most controversial game ever, having been of course tagged
as a “rape simulator” or a “realistic sexual simulator”. Rapelay was a Japanese Video
Game where the player took on the role of a rapist, who stalks a number of women and
rapes them explicitly in different situations, with the ultimate goal to make them their sex
slaves.
The player’s target is a mother and her two daughters. The game is so sick, that it was very
correctly banned from almost every country that it was released in. Its reception was so poor that
the game was completely erased from the developer’s site, and possibly never to be seen again.

9. What are the top symptoms of excessive gaming?Write a 300 word essay on this.

* There are two major types of video games and therefore two major types of video game
addictions. Standard video games are generally designed to be played by a single player and
involve a clear goal or mission, such as rescuing a princess. The addiction in these games is
often related to completing that mission or beating a high score or preset standard. The other
type of video game addiction is associated with online multiplayer games. These games are
played online with other people and are especially addictive because they generally have no
ending. Gamers with this type of addiction enjoy creating and temporarily becoming an
online character. They often build relationships with other online players as an escape from
reality. For some, this community may be the place where they feel they’re the most accepted.
*Many different causes factor into video game addiction. One of the main reasons that video
games can become so addictive, however, is they are designed to be that way. Video game
designers, like anyone else trying to make a profit, are always looking for ways to get more
people playing their games. They accomplish this by making a game just challenging enough
to keep you coming back for more but not so hard that the player eventually gives up. In other
words, success for a gamer often feels just out of reach. In this respect, video game addiction
is very similar to another more widely recognized disorder: gambling addiction.
Emotional Symptoms of Video Game Addiction
Some of the emotional signs or symptoms of video game addiction include:
1. Feelings of restlessness and/or irritability when unable to play.
2. Preoccupation with thoughts of previous online activity or anticipation of the next
online session.
3. Lying to friends or family members regarding the amount of time spent playing
4. Isolation from others in order to spend more time gaming.

Physical Symptoms of Video Game Addiction

Some of the physical signs or symptoms of video game addiction include:
1. Fatigue
2. Migraines due to intense concentration or eye strain
3. Carpal tunnel syndrome caused by the overuse of a controller or computer
mouse
4. Poor personal hygiene
10. What are the measures you will take as a policy maker in India to prevent
gaming addiction? Write a 300 words essay on this.

Introduction
• Video game addiction is as harmful an addiction as any other. Individuals even
suffer from withdrawal syndrome if they are away from their consoles or systems
for too long. Those who are addicted end up playing video games for multiple
hours at a stretch without taking a break except for something necessary.
• Most video games rely on the gamer coming back to beat the next high score or
make the next discovery for open-world games. For those who are a part of
gaming communities, it is about beating the next team together and gaining more
resources or whatever else it is that is required in the game to advance. This is
especially true for role-playing games where the player can customize their
character and interact with others.
Preventing a Gaming Problem
To keep the amount of time spent gaming under control, try these tips for adults and kids alike:
1. Set time limits for play and stick to them.
2. Keep phones and other gadgets out of the bedroom so you won’t play into the night.
3. Do other activities every day, including exercise. This will lower the health risks of
sitting and playing for long stretches of time.
4. Playing together and staying engaged: It’s important that parents don’t just focus on the
individual child exhibiting this behavior. My experience is that it’s as much a parenting
issue as it is a childhood disorder
5. The best way to resolve this in most cases is to encourage parents to be present in
the gaming world of their children.
6. Playing together, help set healthy limits and actively find a variety of activities for
children to consume online.
7. This approach, particularly started at an early age, will keep gaming safe and sensible
for most youngsters.
8. It’s not easy if you’re not familiar with gaming.
9. Whether you suspect your child may be developing a gaming addiction or
not, there are a few steps that we should always take as parents when our
kids reach the age where they can use electronics on a regular basis.
Firstly, it’s crucial to set and communicate expectations about electronics
use.
10. Creating an agreement between you and your child about where and
when electronics may be used helps to educate your child on healthy habits
surrounding electronics and important decision-making skills. It can also be
very helpful to implement an app like Qustodio so that you can hold your
child accountable to your agreement, protect them from harmful content on
the internet, and help them set time limits that are conducive to healthy
development.
Physical Consequences
• This addiction can result in carpal tunnel syndrome, poor eyesight, migraines,
backaches, pain from poor posture, and even obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
With a lack of routine in the outside world, it can have significant physical
consequences.
Conclusion
• Those who play video games need to be mindful of the amount of time that is
spent. They also need to be careful that they do not neglect other responsibilities
that they may have. Especially for those who have young children at home that
cannot be ignored.
