Plate Tectonics for Students

There are 3 types of plate boundaries: convergent where plates collide, divergent where they move apart, and transform where they slide past each other. Plates move due to convection currents in the mantle and their interactions at boundaries are important to earthquakes and volcanoes. Major scientists have developed related theories on plate tectonics to explain lithospheric plate movement.
