This festival is the longest and the most important festivity in the
Chinese calendar. Since the spring season in Chinese calendar
starts with lichun, the first solar term in Chinese calendar year,
and it marks the end of the winter season.

Part of the celebration is the dragon dancing. The dragon dance has been indispensable to Chinese festivals
since ancient times. With the spread of Chinese people and culture all over the
world, the dragon dance has been brought to every corner of the world where there are overseas Chinese
gathered (Cindy, 2021). It has become a symbol of Chinese culture and the dragon symbolizes power, strength
and good luck.

On the fifth day of New Year, the Chinese


believe that the gods of prosperity will come
down from the heaven.

On the fifth day of New Year is known as the


Festival of Lanterns and marks the end of the
New year celebration.

These are commonly given to children or
unmarried adults with no jobs yet.
In the Chinese culture, color red signifies good
luck, abundance, and happiness.

On the fifth day of New Year, when many


people have to start going back to their work ,
they also have the Dancing Dragons perform
in front of the office building.

Dragon represents prosperity, good fortune,


and luck.

In Thailand, the festival of lights is celebrated


around the country with Loi Krathong that are
released on water to bring luck and fulfill

FESTIVAL
KODO TAIKO DRUM FESTIVAL OF JAPAN

 Held every summer in the town of Ogi on the island of Sdo. Kodo’s main instrument is drum.
 The Japanese word, kodo has two meaning , “hearbeat” and “children of the drum”. Traditionally, the drums
are beaten to drive off the evil spirits. In times of war, they are beaten to give orders and strength to the
warriors.

 Is a drumming troupe that is based on Ogi on the island of Sado. The group is known for
improving the ancient craft of drumming.
 Kodo drumming group currently performs worldwide to promote Japanese music and
break language and culture barriers through music.
