Use this conditional to show an outcome that happens if a specific
repeated condition is met.
4

Zero conditional

We use the so-called zero conditional when the result

of the condition is always true, like a scientific fact.

If+present simple , Present simple

Ex: If people don't eat , they get hungry.

5

2
First Condition
Use this conditional to show a likely or possible outcome that will
probably happen if a specific condition is met.
6

First condition
We are talking about the future. We are thinking about a particular condition or
situation in the future, and the result of this condition. There is a real possibility
that this condition will happen.

If + Present , will + verb

Ex: If it rains tomorrow , will you stay at home?

7

3
Second condition

Use this conditional to show an unlikely or impossible outcome that

probably wouldn’t happen
8

second condition
The second conditional is like the first conditional. We are still thinking about the
future. We are thinking about a particular condition in the future, and the result of
this condition. But there is not a real possibility that this condition will happen.

If +past , would + verb

Ex: If I won the lottery , I would buy a car.

9

4
third condition

Use this conditional to show a past regret or different outcome that would
have happened if a specific condition had been met.
10

Third condition
third conditional we talk about the past. We talk about a condition in the past that
did not happen

If +had p.p , would+have + p.p

Ex: If I had won the lottery, I would have bought a car.
