High Performance Concrete

Bedar R.Hassan
• Introduction:
• High-performance concrete (HPC) is the concrete has exceeds the properties and
constructability of normal concrete. Normal and special materials are used to
make these concretes.
• All high-strength concrete is high-performance, not all high-performance concrete
is high-strength.
• Introduction:
• Special mixing, placing, and curing practices may be needed.
• HPC concretes will have a low water-cementing materials ratio of 0.20 to 0.45.
• Strength is not always the primary required property.
• Characteristic of HPC:
• High early strength.
• High Strength concrete.
• Durable Concrete.
• Low Permeability.
• High toughness
• Resistance to chemical attack.
• Controlling of High performance concrete:
• Controlling of High performance concrete:
• Common Mixes:
• Advantages:
• 1. Speed of construction.
• 2. Economical compared with properties.
• 3. Seismic resistance.
• 4. Durable.
• 5. High strength (Tensile and Compressive).
• 6. Low maintenance cost.
• Disadvantages:
• 1. Quality control.
• 2. Special staff.
