HR Practices

Nestle, the largest FMCG Company is working all over the world with more than 500 factories in
86 countries making up of most of the continents. Henri nestle set up nestle in Switzerland.
Customers are provided with more than 500 products by nestle. They mainly practice these three
terms of HR:
• This policy encompasses those guidelines which constitute a sound basis for efficient and
effective HR Management in the Nestlé Group around the world.
• They are in essence flexible and dynamic and may require adjustment to a variety of
circumstances. Therefore its implementation will be inspired by sound judgment, compliance
with local market laws and common sense, taking into account the specific context. Its spirit
should be respected under all circumstances.
• As Nestlé is operating on a worldwide basis, it is essential that local legislation and practices
be respected everywhere. Also to be considered is the degree of development of each
market and its capacity to advance in the management of their human resources.
Background

Nestle was formed in 1905 by the merger of the ANGLO-


SWISS COMPANY, established in 1866 by Brother George Page
and Charles Page, and Farine Lactee Henri Nestle, founded in
1866 by Henri Nestle. The company grew significantly during
the First World War and again following the Second World
War, expending its offerings beyond its early condensed milk
and infant formula products. The company has made a
number of corporate acquisition, including Crosse & Blackwell
in 1950, Findus in 1963, Libby’s in 1971, Rowntree Mackintosh
in 1988 and Gerber in 2007.

• Nestle has a primary listing on the six Swiss exchange and is a


constituent of the Swiss market index. It has a secondary listing on
Euro next. In 2011, Nestle was listed no. 1 in the frontline global so as
the world’s most profitable corporation. With a market capitalization
of $200 billion, nestles ranked no. 13 in the ft global 2001.
• Now Nestlé celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Nestlé Professional
Beverage Centre in Orbe, Switzerland, the company’s R&D facility
entirely dedicated to its out-of-home beverage business. The
ceremony was attended by Stefan Catsicas, Chief Technology Officer
Nestlé S.A., Head of Innovation, Technology, Research and
Development, and Martial Rolland, CEO of Nestlé Professional.

 The objective of HR/ Manpower Planning: Manpower planning is


done to balance and develop the organization ability to meet it’s
goal by developing strategies that will contribute it’s contribution
of HR. The line management gives the estimate of manpower
requirements and staff manager works on selection and
recruitment related to line manager to whom man power is vital.
 Organizations HR Planning and Development: HR planning can
manage the changes in the requirements of employees. HR
planning implements new recruitment and hold skilled and
efficient staff by understand easily the needs of future.
Host Country
(India)

After more than a century-old association with the country, today, NESTLÉ India
has presence across India with 8 manufacturing facilities and 4 branch offices.

NESTLÉ India set up its first manufacturing facility at Moga (Punjab) in 1961
followed by its manufacturing facilities at Choladi (Tamil Nadu), in 1967;
Nanjangud (Karnataka), in 1989; Samalkha (Haryana), in 1993; Ponda and Bicholim
(Goa), in 1995 and 1997, respectively; and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), in 2006. In
2012, Nestle India set up its 8th manufacturing facility at Tahliwal (Himachal
Pradesh).

The 4 Branch Offices located at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata help facilitate
the sales and marketing activities. The NESTLÉ India’s Head Office is located in
Gurgaon, Haryana.

Recommendation

• Nestle must state in writing that it accepts that the international


code and the subsequent relevant World Health Assembly
Resolutions are minimum requirements for every country. 
• Nestle must state in writing that it will make required changes to
bring its Baby Food Marketing policy and practice into line with
International Code and Resolutions.
• Hybrid/ Mixed Structure
– Combines advantage of Centralized & Decentralized
– achieve economies of scale
• Creation of market intelligence and analysis units
Conclusion

• Nestle is today the world’s largest food and beverage


company with its mission to provide healthier lifestyle.
• It has launched many products in Pakistan the majority
of which are popular and among the market leaders.
• Nestle is installing new plants and importing latest
technologies to improve.
• Moreover, innovation is one of its greatest strengthsso
it has a bright future in Pakistan.
