• Koha is an open-source integrated
library system, used world-wide by
public, school and special libraries.
• KOHA word means a gift or donation.
• Koha was created in 1999 by Katipo
Communications for the Horowhenua
Library Trust in New Zealand, and the
first installation went live in January
2000.

Releases
• KOHA releases follow a regular, calendar based, pattern
with monthly maintenance releases and bi-annual feature

• In Koha the bibliographic record contains the main information related to the material. This includes
things like the title, author, ISBN, etc. This information is stored in Koha in Marc (different flavors of Marc
are supported in Koha). Once this information is saved, item records can be attached.

The Advanced Search page offers many ways to limit the
results of your search. You can search using the Boolean
operators AND, OR, and NOT; limit by item type; limit by
year and language; limit by subtypes audience, content,
format, or additional content types; by location and by
availability.
