Facilities Apparels
The objective of badminton is to use a racket to launch a
small projectile, called a shuttlecock, over a raised net. A
point is earned by a team when the shuttlecock goes over
the net to the opposing team's side and the shuttlecock
touches the ground in bounds, or the opposing team
commits a fault.
Badminton Facilities
Badminton Court Dimensions

The overall dimensions is 20 feet by 44 feet, marking the

sidelines for doubles play and long service lines for singles
play.
The Net Line

The net line marks the middle of the court where the net is
placed, creating a 22 feet by 20 feet area on each side of
the net.
The Badminton Net

The top of the badminton net is hung 5 feet above in

the center net line.
Short Service Line

The short service line is marked 6 feet 6 inches from the

center line. The area inside the short service line is also
called the Non Volley Zone.

The Center Line is the line that divides the court from the
Short Service Line to the Back Boundary Line. This
delineates the Left from Right Service Court.

BADMINTON COURT
DIMENSION
Badminton courts measure 44 feet long by 20 feet wide
with a center net line separation that creates a 22-feet-
long by 20-feet-wide area on each side. Badminton courts
have boundary lines marking the 44-feet-long by 20-feet-
wide outline; these lines are the long service lines for
singles play and the sidelines for doubles play.

Single side lines are marked 1 1/2 feet from the doubles
sideline, or outer boundary line.

Lines on the court marked 6 1/2 feet from the center line
are the short service lines.

A center line running from the short service line to the

back boundary line separates the left and right sides of the
court.
Badminton Equipments
Badminton Racket

Modern Badminton Rackets are light in weight and don’t

weigh more than 100 grams. The frame of the Racket can
be made of common metals like steel or aluminium.
Sometimes rackets are made of alloys, tough carbon fiber,
ceramic, or boron. Its length does not exceed 680mm and
width does not exceed 230 mm.
Badminton Shuttlecock

The shuttlecock, also called a birdie, is the high-drag 'ball'

used in playing badminton. It is designed to be
aerodynamically stable as it will turn cork first, and remain
in that position during flight regardless of its initial
orientation. The shuttlecock owes this high-drag property
to its open conical shape formed by 16 feathers (or nylon)
embedded into a round cork base.
Badminton Shoes
Badminton players have to move around a lot as they
shuffle for the flying shuttlecock and this movement can
place a great amount of pressure on the forefeet. Therefore,
it is important to put in some thought into choosing the
perfect court shoes.

A good pair of Badminton Shoes provide good grip,

cushioning and some flexibility at the forefoot.
Apparels and Accessories

The commonly used Badminton Accessories are Grip,

Badminton Clothes, Socks, Wrist Band and Head
Band.
Badminton Tracker

Badminton trackers are portable devices that provide

personalized training and coaching in real-time via a
connection with smartphone.

Track the speed and power of your shots in real – time.

Know the swing and Degree of Rotation to learn more
about your playing style.
Badminton Apparels
Polyester Shirts
Badminton players wear polyester shirts because the
material is breathable and helps to regulate body heat by
releasing hot air while drawing in cool air to refresh the
player. Polyester shirts are lightweight, aiming to minimize
weighing the player down. Furthermore, polyester not only
draws sweat from the player’s skin and keeps them dry, but
the dries relatively quickly.
Polyester Shorts, Skirts/Skorts

Badminton players wear polyester shorts because it is light

and flexible. The fabric’s fluidity allows for players to
move around unrestricted, maximizing the distance they
can lunge to retrieve a shot or jump to strike a shuttle at the
highest utmost point of contact.
Badminton Shoes
Badminton players wear badminton shoes as they provide
unparalleled support and stability to the player. Proper
badminton shoes secure the feet through good fit,
minimizing stress to the foot, ankle, and knees while
maximizing comfort. Badminton shoes stabilizes the foot
when landing, reducing slippage and lag between
successive steps.
Thick Socks

Badminton players wear thick socks as the extra

cushioning provides a comfortable layer between the foot
and the shoe, which fends off the development of blisters
caused by the friction between the shoe and the foot. Thick
socks prevent the foot from moving too much inside the
shoe, which minimizes sliding and slippage.
Badminton Accessories
Badminton players wear accessories that complement their
physical conditions.

Headbands are worn to keep hair and sweat out of a player’s

eyes.

Wristbands double up to prevent sweat from trickling down

your arm and ruining the grip of the racket and can be used to
wipe sweat from your forehead.

Knee straps help dissipate strain on the knee, preventing

career-ending injuries.
