◦ RECRUITMENT:

MEANING:

The process of searching for prospective employees and encouraging them to apply. Seeking and attracting
a pool of people from which qualified people can be chosen.

recruitment forms the first stage in the process which continues with selection and ceases with the
placement of the candidates

TYPES OF RECRUITMENT METHODS

THREE MAIN TYPES:

◦ DIRECT METHOD
They establish direct contact with the candidates seeking jobs.

◦ INDIRECT METHOD
In the indirect method of recruitment, advertisements in newspapers, journals, on the radio, and T.V. are
useful in publicizing vacancies.

◦ THIRD-PARTY METHOD
This method consists of the use of private employment businesses, to initiate contact with jobseekers.
◦ SELECTION

MEANING:

The process of identifying and choosing the right person for a particular job. It leads to employment of
workers.

The process of differentiating between applicants to identify and hire those with a greater likelihood of
success in a job.
