Introduction:

 Nation-building is a normative concept that means different things to


different people.

 The role that science and technology has played in improving the life
conditions across the globe is vivid, but the benefit has to been harvested
maximum by all countries.

 Science and technology has made life a lot easier.

 Modernization in every aspect of life is the greatest example of the


implementation of science and technology in every nation. With the
introduction of modern gadgets .
Science, Technology and Society

 Is the study of how social, political and cultural values affect


scientific
research and technological innovations and how these in turn affect
society.

 Nation Building is a process of constructing , structuring a national


identity using the power of a State.
The Primary Objective of Nation-building

1. To make a violent society peaceful.


2. Security
National security is the requirement to maintain the survival of the state through the use of
economic power.
Food
Food security is a condition related to the availability of food supply, group of people such as
(ethnicities, racial, cultural and religious groups) as well as individuals' access to it the
"availability at all times of adequate, nourishing, diverse, balanced and moderate world food
supplies of basic foodstuffs to sustain a steady expansion of food consumption and to offset
fluctuations in production and prices".
Shelter
Access to stable, adequate shelter plays a major role in the health and wellbeing of families, and
in particular children, by providing a safe environment, the security that allows participation in
the social, educational, economic, and community aspects of their lives and the privacy to foster
autonomy as an individual and a family unit.
Education
Education correlates with nation-building. This is evident in the developed nations.
Basic Services

One of the key features in nation building is to ensure that all citizens – especially
the poor and other vulnerable groups - have access to basic services like health
care, social care, energy and transportation .

 Science and technology in the Philippines represents the wide scientific and
technological advances the Philippines has made.
 The main managing agency responsible for science and technology (S&T) is the
Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
 The Philippines' Department of Science and Technology (abbreviated as DOST;
Filipino: Kagawaran ng Agham at Teknolohiya), is the executive department of
the Philippine Government responsible for the coordination of science and
technology-related projects in the Philippines and to formulate policies and
projects in the fields of science and technology in support of national
development.
 The science department have consulting agencies for Forestry, Agriculture and
Aquaculture, Metal Industry, Nuclear Research, Food and Nutrition, Health,
Meteorological and the Volcanology and Seismology.

 Baybayin or Alibata (known in Unicode as the Tagalog script) is a pre-


Hispanic Philippine writing system that originated from the Javanese
script Old Kawi.
 The writing system is a member of the Brahmic family (and an offshoot
of the Vatteluttu alphabet) and is believed to be in use as early as the
14th century.

 It continued to be in use during the Spanish colonization of the


Philippines up until the late 19th Century. The term baybayin literally
means spelling. Closely related scripts are Hanunoo, Buhid, and
Tagbanwa.
Ship Building

Filipinos were said to be proficient in building ocean-going vessels, all


kinds of boats or ships were built,which the spanish later call
banca,balangay,lapis,caracoa,virey,vinta,and prau.

and innovation can be applied.

 The budget for research and development [R&D]


grew by nearly six times over the same period of time, from
P1 billion in 2009 to P5.8 billion in 2017.
