• Project Year :- 2008
• Site Area :- 5000 acres
• It is 1st Asian Airport to get
(LEED NC) Silver ratings for
having green & environmental
friendly terminal building.
 CAMPUS LEVEL FEATURES :-
• To keep Ecological balance  a green belt has been built in an area of 273
hectares with various plant species and 971 hectares of natural greenery
has been left intact.
• For Energy conservation they are saved energy of 3.97million kWh
(kilowatt hour) especially in the last couple of years, thereby reducing
carbon footprint by about 3331 tons.
• By 100% Rainwater harvesting, the net recharge is an approximate at
1.729 million cubic meter per annum. The use of surface water is a
decisive factor to water conservation.
• By recycling waste food RGIA converted the waste food as compost on
the site and turned the disadvantage into anything.
• Chemical fertilizers gave way to the compost collected from the area.
Similarly, paper and plastic waste are recycled, reprocessed and reused.
• Optimization of air conditioning units according to ambient temperature
and weather conditions.

which makes it has a
highlighted feature

 CLIMATE RESPONSIVE ELEMENTS :-

• Scattered planning with intermediate

open spaces, small landscape
patches to avoid heating of campus.
• Orientation of building in North
direction to avoid harsh sun rays.
• Large projections on the south side
to cut off the sun rays to enter the
space.

 BUILDING ENVELOPES :-

• The natural light penetration in plazas which acts as open space for
interaction.
• Large openings to enter the campus gives a larger perspective of the space
• Louvers provided as external façade and acts as barriers to provide partial
amount of natural light and wind to pass through.

4. IIM KOZHIKODE

• Location :- Calicut, Kerala

• Design by :- Joseph Allen Stein
• Project Year :- 1996
• Site Area :- 111 acres

 CAMPUS LEVEL FEATURES :-

• The complexes in campus is surrounded by green vegetations and
vertical gardens hence creates micro climate.
• The buildings are constructed from eco-friendly and locally-sourced
materials, the majority of energy needs through our roof-top solar panels,
the implementation of rainwater harvesting, then recharged several
wells, solar power techniques and we have a modest recycling center.
• Parabolic solar panels for steam generation for mass cooking were
installed which has capacity of steam produce equivalent to 10-15kg
LPG cylinders per day that helps reduce the consumption of LPG by
15%.
• Food waste is converted into bio-gas for cooking purposes which reduces
the energy equivalent of 22kg LPG/day.
• Rooftop rainwater runoff reused for bathing, washing, flushing etc.
except for drinking.
