Attack on

Religious
Minorities
THE HARSH REALITY OF MY BELOVED COUNTRY

RAFID HASAN SAFWAN

ROLL - 22
LL.B 2ND YEAR
Special Gratitude to
Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Karzon
- For giving me the opportunity to make a
presentation on this serious topic.
- For helping me to ponder over this topic from
criminological perspective.
-- For motivating me to promote religious
harmony.
HONORABLE SIR
Why I chose this topic:
1. The Autobiography of Sunil Gangopadya

The plight that the minorities faced during the

partition both in India and Pakistan is depicted in
this autobiography. While reading this book, I
was shocked and speechless for a few moments.

(Special thanks for including this book in your

suggested list)

ORDHEK JIBON
2. A sorrowful
incident from my
local area:
- A few over-enthusiasistic boys arranged a procession after
the Zumma Salat and ended up attacking the Puja Mandap.
They were all on their own led by none.

- Though I claim myself to be a conscious citizen, the role

that should be played by me was missing.

- therefore, this slide can be said to an expression of my

repentance.

The reasons of
Such attacks :
1. RELIGIOUS FANATICISM
2. POLITICAL MOTIVATION
3. GRASPING LANDS ☘️
4. THE LACK OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
5. SCRIPTURAL MISINTERPRETATION
ID
ID is the most primitive portion of personality. It is
analogous to animal instinct. Example : consumption,
desire for love and sex, happiness, eroticism etc

EGO
It deals with reality. It is the conscious part of the
personality. It seeks to fulfil the drives of ID in a socially
acceptable way.

Superego
The Super Ego is largely part of the unconscious
personality. Though predominantly unconscious in its
operation, the superego contains conscious elements such
as morality. Conscious or superego represents ideality and
keeps balance between the ID and the ego.
ID
1. Grasping someone's land (Greed)
2. Showing Power
3. Attacking the disagreeing opponent.

EGO
1. The fear of punishment.
2. The fear of facing hatred, criticism from the conscious
community.

Superego
1. The idea of freedom.
2. The idea of respecting the bodily integrity of minority.
3. The idea of freedom of religion
4. The religious injunction
Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the
Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whoever kills a Mu‘āhad shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise,
though its fragrance can be smelt at a distance of forty years (of
traveling).''

Routine Activity
Theory
A species of rational choice theory that
posits that many crimes take place very
simply because of the presence of
likely offender, a suitable target and
guardianship.
A likely offender
Those who attacks on the minority are mainly motivated
by emotion. They are not much literate and they belong to
the lower economic class.

A suitable taget
From the offender's point of view, the minority community
are suitable target as they are marginalised. Also they may
not get quick police protection.

Lack of a capable
Gurdian
The state was supposed to be the guardian but it fails to
give protection.
Differential
Association Theory
⚫ Criminal behavior is learned from intimate personal groups.
-learning includes techniques for committing crimes, motives,
rationalizations and attitudes.
-The specific direction of motives and drives is learned
from definitions of legal codes as favorable or unfavorable.
-A person becomes delinquent because of an Excess of
definitions favorable to breaking the law.
