INTRODUCTION
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in environmental prediction
and appropriate farming methods has the potential to
revolutionize the way we produce food. By using AI to analyze
data from sensors, drones, and other sources, farmers can gain
real-time insights into weather patterns, soil conditions, and
other factors that can affect crop health and yield. This
information can help farmers make more informed decisions
about irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and other aspects of
crop management, which can improve crop yields and reduce the
environmental impact of farming.
Furthermore!
AI can be used to optimize the distribution and delivery of
agricultural products, which can help farmers get their products to
market more efficiently and increase their profitability. By using AI
to predict and respond to environmental conditions and optimize
farming practices, we can help ensure that the world has a stable and
sustainable food supply.
MOTIVATION
➔ As the global population continues to grow, the demand for food is increasing, and it is becoming increasingly
important to find ways to produce food efficiently and sustainably. One way to do this is through the use of AI in
environmental prediction and appropriate farming methods.

➔ AI can be used to analyze data from sensors, drones, and other sources to provide real-time insights into weather
patterns, soil conditions, and other factors that can affect crop health and yield. This information can help farmers
make more informed decisions about irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and other aspects of crop management,
which can improve crop yields and reduce the environmental impact of farming

➔ Additionally, AI can also be used to optimize the distribution and delivery of agricultural products, which can help
farmers get their products to market more efficiently and increase their profitability. By using AI to predict and
respond to environmental conditions and optimize farming practices, we can help ensure that the world has a stable
and sustainable food supply.
OBJECTIVES
● Improved agricultural productivity: AI can be used to analyze data about weather patterns, soil conditions, and crop growth to help
farmers choose the most appropriate farming methods and optimize crop yield.
● Increased sustainability: AI can help farmers make more informed decisions about how and where to use natural resources, such as
water and fertilizers, more efficiently and reduce negative environmental impacts.
● Enhanced food security: By using AI to predict crop yields and optimize farming methods, it may be possible to increase the overall
food supply and reduce the risk of food shortages.
● Reduced costs: AI can help farmers make more efficient use of resources and reduce the costs associated with farming, such as energy
and water use.
● Improved decision-making: AI can provide farmers with real-time data and analysis to help them make more informed decisions about
their farming operations. This can help farmers respond more effectively to changing environmental conditions and market demands.
Literature Review
Possible approaches of AI use in agriculture
❖ Precision agriculture: AI can be used to analyze data from sensors, such as weather stations,
soil moisture probes, and crop yield monitors, to help farmers make more informed decisions
about when to plant, irrigate, and fertilize crops.
❖ Crop monitoring: AI can be used to analyze images of crops taken by drones or satellite
imagery to identify pests, diseases, and other problems that may affect crop health.
❖ Supply chain optimization: AI can be used to analyze data from the entire agricultural supply
chain, including production, processing, transportation, and distribution, to identify
inefficiencies and optimize logistics.
❖ Climate change adaptation: AI can be used to analyze data about weather patterns and crop
growth to help farmers adapt to changing climate conditions and minimize the impact of
extreme weather events.
Eli-Chukwu, N.C. (2019) ‘Applications of Artificial Intelligence in
Agriculture: A Review’

Chukwu et al. conducted a study in Nigeria in 2019, where the main purpose of the study was to use AI
in reducing the number of challenges faced regularly in the agricultural sector of Nigeria, like low
crops yield, improper soil treatment, disease and pest infections etc. They placed special focus on the
management of crops and weed in their study.

Their study used an artificial neural network (ANN) in agricultural fields, to measure soil sensitivity,
soil degradation rate of various region, and used the combined data to figure out how long would it take
for crops to grow in such fields, as well as the rate of weed growth.

The mentioned study combined the precision agriculture and crop monitoring approach in agriculture
Debaeke, P. and Aboudrare, A. (2004) ‘Adaptation of crop management to
water-limited environments’

The study of Chukwu et al., had been based on a much older study of Debaeke and Aboudrare et al,
conducted in 2004. They had focused on the crop management aspect of AI agriculture, rather than the
crop production.

This study was conducted in an area facing water shortage and had repeated droughts over the years.
The study was divided in 6 primary objectives, and the effectiveness of individual solution strategies to
these objectives was determined by the severity, frequency, and timing of the drought.

One of the solution they came up with was combining previous strategic provisional management
techniques, understand where the drought would be weakest, to plant crops in that region. But this
solution was mainly in a strategic context rather than a complete solution.
Pierce, F.J. and Nowak, P. (1999) ‘Aspects of Precision Agriculture’

The aspect of precision agriculture has been discussed for over 2 decades now, and deals with a large
number of factors such as natural-resource variability; variability management; management zone;
engineering innovations in sensors, controls, and remote sensing; information management etc.

Precision agriculture is a type of farming that uses advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence
(AI), sensors, and GPS, to collect and analyze data about weather patterns, soil conditions, and crop
growth. This information is used to optimize farming practices and increase crop yields.

The study of Pierce et al., had been conducted in 1999, and suggested based on the findings of that
period that prospects for precision management will increase as the degree of spatial dependence
increases, but the degree of difficulty in achieving precision management will increase with temporal
variance.
Vijayabaskar, P.S., Sreemathi, R. and Keertanaa, E. (2017) ‘Crop prediction
using predictive analytics’

Predictive analytics is another method of using AI in the agricultural sector.

Predictive analytics is where an AI is used to forecast weather patterns, predict crop yields, and identify
potential issues before they occur.

To use predictive analytics for crop prediction, farmers can collect data from sensors, such as weather
stations and soil moisture probes, and input this data into a machine learning algorithm. The algorithm
can then analyze the data and make predictions about how the crops will grow under different
conditions. For example, the algorithm might predict that a particular crop will yield more if it is
irrigated more frequently, or that a different crop will grow better in a different soil type.

This can help farmers plan their operations more efficiently and minimize the risk of crop failure or
other unexpected events. This is a relatively new concept, and can also be implemented on animal
agriculture.
Metodology
Predictive analytics

This will be an experimental research where we will be using machine learning techniques and
artificial intelligence to achieve our goals. We will be using a combination of crop monitoring,
climate change adaptation and predictive analytics methods to reach our goal. We will be taking
1970-2022 natural weather data and a specific agro greenhouse climate data. We will be using
scikit-learn ML technique with support vector machine (SVM) model in python language. For
variables, we will be observing the environment for farming by lots of sensor and collect data
regarding temperature, wind speed, humidity, wind direction, rain and cloud status, co2, UV light
etc. Data collection regarding such variables were collected from the Bangladesh Agro-
Meteorological Information System’s official website, and entered into a modified database
