WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SELLER?

• Supply the merchandise together with the sales


contract.
• Cover the damage or loss of merchandise until
it is delivered to the buyer.
• Control the transport of the product until
reaching the agreed point.
• Assume all risks until cargo is delivered.
WHAT ARE THE BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITIES?

• Pay for the merchandise as stipulated in the purchase-sale


contract
• Obtain the documents and authorizations required for customs
procedures.
• Assume the risks and losses from the moment the
merchandise is delivered.
ADVANTAGE

When exporting
The advantage is that you can get better prices to buy
merchandise and its transport.

When importing
The advantage is that you have very little responsibility for the
transportation of the merchandise.
DISADVANTAGES

When exporting
Exporting under DAP conditions means that as a seller you
will be responsible for everything in the destination country,
which represents a high risk.

When importing
As a buyer, it does not allow you to control the transport so it
reduces your competitiveness.
INCOTERM DPU

In this Incoterm the seller must transport and unload


the goods. The delivery is made in a defined place
where there is the possibility of making it. After
that, the costs and risks are with the buyer.
EXPORTER'S OBLIGATIONS

Documentation:The exporter takes care of all the necessary


documentation for customs clearance, physically or electronically.

Delivery terms: The seller assumes all costs and risks until the goods are
unloaded at the agreed point.

Risks: The exporter bears the risks until the merchandise is delivered at the
agreed point.
IMPORTER OBLIGATIONS

Delivery terms: Once the merchandise reaches the point and is delivered to
the terminal, warehouse or agreed point, the buyer assumes responsibility
until the final destination.

Costs: The costs that must be assumed start at the agreed delivery point, in
addition to the import procedures and fees (duties and other taxes).
