Synopsis
 Fiserv provides processing and software services to
financial services companies.
 Fiserv is the market leader in bill payment and bill
presentment services.
 Its software can be used by consumers to view and
pay the bill online and therefore help financial
services organization in their billing and collection
process.
 Some years before the case Fiserv successfully
increased the customer’s usage of online bill
payment through effective segmentation and
strategic targeting of the end users.
 At the time of case they, Fiserv is considering
how(or if) it can use the same approach to
encourage the customers to “turn off paper” – that
is to stop receiving some or all of the bills through
mail and instead receive them electronically.
Question
 The case asks students to use basic market
segmentation information as a basis for
recommending which consumers Fiserv should
target to maximize profitability.
