Findings

1. What is the demographic profile of the registered establishments?

- As a result of the research study, the majority of the respondents were small

independent businesses who are found mostly within Barangay Poblacion. Most of

them are ranging from 0-5 years in service since most of the previous merchants were

not able to adopt to change. Their income are most commonly ₱50,000 and below

with 0-5 employees since they are small independent businesses. The typical profile

income of their customers are middle income.

2. What E-pay service/s the establishment use?

- All of the respondents use Cash as their most common mode of payment and Gcash is

their top E-pay services used as their alternative mode of payment. For the users, they

use bank and mobile account for receiving payments, receiving or sending money and

paying suppliers. On the other hand, the non-users chose not to use e-pay because

their business is too small, they don’t need one and some of the respondents don’t

know enough about it.

3. What are the reasons for using and not using E-pay among the establishment in Bayawan

City?

- For the users, their top reason for using e-pay is because it is easy to carry for the

customers followed by the process is easy and controlled, payment is directly

transferred to their business account, it is convenient to use for the customers, it is

on-going trend/trendy and lastly it is easy to use and handle.

- For the non-users, their top reason for not using e-pay is because internet availability

is a must followed by customer may transfer the payment to the wrong account, have

to pay transaction charges for collecting payments, difficult to entertain customers


when the internet or servers are down lastly, it charges the customers more than once

when processing the payments.

4. Is there a significant relationship between the demographic profile of the local

establishments and the reasons for using and not using e-pay among the establishment in

Bayawan City?
Conclusions

There are a lot of factors affecting the readiness of local establishments on the use of e-pay. Both

the users and non-users were assessed with their reasons for using and not using e-pay within

their establishments. Most of the establishments are customer-based in terms of choosing what

mode of payment to use. They are giving importance in giving convenience to their customers.

Both the users and non-users have different perception towards using e-payment. Some see it as

a delay while some see it as a convenient tool for their transactions. Some of the non-users are

interested in using e-payment but they are considering the customer’s preference towards e-pay,

while others are interested to use it but does not have enough knowledge and some are saying

they are old and are unable to adopt to the trend.

Recommendation

Conduct a campaign program to enhance the knowledge of the local

establishments with the processes of e-pay and the benefits for using e-pay. The

said campaign can help to the address concerns and myths the local believe, it

also provide guidance on adopting electronic payment system in the City. Since

internet availability is a must in using e-pay, they must have a collaboration with

the internet service providers and the government agencies to develop and

improve the technological infrastructure in Bayawan City. Also, through this, they

can associate with policymakers and government agencies to set concise and fair

regulations for e-payments in doing so, they can also collaborate with financial
institutions and e-payment service providers for establishing partnerships and

ensure security measures to promote industry best practices for data protection

and fraud prevention. At the same time, launch awareness campaigns of e-

payment intended for the customers to encourage their usage. Starting with

schools, organizations and community groups to educate about the benefits they

will get in using e-pay.
