Abstract

Electronic Payment System (EPS) refers to the digital monetary transaction online using
electronic platforms such as Gcash, PayMaya, CoinsPh, Online Banking, Cash Cards,
ShopeePay, and Palawan Pay. As globalization arise, the Philippines adapts the electronic
payment system and introduces it in the year 2001. This study aims to determine the readiness of
the local establishment on the use of e-pay in Bayawan City through a correlational survey
research approach, 303 respondents were selected through stratified random selection from
Barangay Boyco, Poblacion, Suba, Tinago, and Ubos. The gathered data were statistically
analyzed through the use of the chi-squared test to determine the correlation of the demographic
profile of the respondents and the reasons for not using e-pay in store as a mode of payment. The
result shows that the association between the reason for not using and the demographic profile in
terms of business industry type, the years of service, annual income, number of in-store
employees, and the typical profile income of customers is considered to be statistically
significant. The data shows since the calculated value is greater than the tabular value, it
therefore conclude to accept the null hypothesis, that there is a significant relationship between
the 2 variables.
