Rationale of the Study

Promotion is a popular method amongst business owners, especially when you

use the internet to promote your product. Using the internet alone will generate you a

large sum of money for your products. Thanks to the internet and other social media

platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and several more apps, advertisement

is only a click away for consumers.

Almost all of us are using the internet to purchase something that we needed or

just something we liked because it is the easiest kind of purchase we do without even

lifting our two feet. Throughout the course of COVID-19, consumers like students are

left with a choice but to purchase goods from online. According to the International

Trade Administration, in 2021, the Philippines eCommerce market sales reached $17

billion, largely contributed by 73 million online active users. In 2025, its estimated

growth would reach up to 17% and it would total up to $24 billion. So we are asking the

question, how does online advertising affect the consumer behavior of the students from

University of Eastern Pangasinan.

Rationale of the Study

Paypal, Paymaya, and Gcash are just one of the few online banking services

offered here in the Philippines. In these apps, you are allowed to connect your own

bank account making it transactional online. Online banking has its own benefits such

as easier bill payments, simpler fund transfers, 24/7 access and more secure

transactions.

The growth of banking is now relying online as it offers fast and reliable data

transfers. Soon, cash would dissipate and would only use online banking as a mode of

payment for every transaction. The Philippines' transition to digital payments opened the

door for an increase in the number of electronic money accounts. In 2020, the number

of e-money accounts increased by 93 percent over the previous year, reaching around

34.7 million. According to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas(BSP), 41 million Filipinos are now

using digital payments as of the third quarter of this year. As we transition into a digital

use of payments, this research aims to identify how online banking affects students from

the University of Eastern Pangasinan in their everyday life.

Rationale of the Study

Unfortunately, not every student is privileged enough to afford to go to college.

Even if it is a community college and tuition is free, it is not enough to sustain a four

year course in college. Many college students work in addition to their studies. Every

day, they work at night and study during the day.

It is sometimes considered difficult to run those activities concurrently due to the

challenges in balancing one another. However, there are certain reasons why

student-workers continue to voluntarily take risks to work instead of focusing solely on

their college studies. Students who lack significant assets, money, or access to other

financial resources have few options for covering fees not covered by scholarships: they

can take out loans, work, or do both. While these choices benefit many students, a

higher education financing system that entails the utilization of loans and paid

employment disadvantages individuals from groups that are still underrepresented in

and disadvantaged by higher education.

Being a working student provides you with the financial needs you aim for, but in

contrast a lot of employers are purposefully underpaying students from the minimum

wage, leaving them not having enough money in exchange for their tiring work day by

day. In this research, we set our sights on how the working students from the University

of Eastern Pangasinan affects them with the minimum wage they work for.
