Economy Agri-Food Systems Adversely Affected:

Size of Economic Impact Vary Widely:

• Total GDP falls modestly in most countries but
remains largely unchanged in some cases.
Drivers of economic losses differ across sectors:
• Rising world prices are the main contributor to
failing national GDP.
Household consumption falls by more than GDP.

1. Households are hit twice rising consumer prices and

falling in comes.
2. Food expenditure account for a much larger share of
household consumption that food production accounts for

Poverty Increases in all Countries
1. Additional 27.2 million people across the 19 countries.
2. Most people falling into poverty are in rural areas.
