Amino Acids sequences

*remember that Amino acids are small molecules that makes up proteins

• There about 20 different types of amino acids

• Different amino acids sequence/arrangements
gives different shapes to protein molecules.
Example :
Examples of different amino acid sequences
Proteins are macromolecules that have four
different levels of structure.
• Primary structure, Secondary structure, Tertiary structure and Quaternary
structure
DNA
• DNA is a substance that belongs to a group of
chemicals called nucleic acids, found in the
nucleus of the cells.

• DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid

The structure of a DNA

the DNA molecule is made up of subunits called

nucleotides. Each nucleotide is made up of three
chemical groups :
• A Deoxyribose – a sugar molecule
• A Base – made of either an (A)Adenine, (T)Thymine,
(G)Guanine or (C)Cytosine
• A Phosphate group – represented by a letter P
Description of the DNA structure
• a DNA is made of two strands coiled together to
form a double helix, each strand has a base
attached to the other by hydrogen bonds to
form base pairs of A-Ts and C-Gs.
