KP-BOIT (Role and Mandate)

• KP-BOIT is one of the significant Government Institutions striving to promote industrial development,
trade, and investment in the province. The main focus of activity is promoting trade and investment in
the province. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is keen on creating a business-friendly
investment climate in line with the Federal Government Policies and presenting the Province as an
attractive investment destination for entrepreneurs/investors.
• In efforts towards promotion of industrialization in the Province, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Industrial
Policy 2020 has been approved by the Provincial Cabinet in December 2020. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Industrial policy 2020 is based on three pillars of revival & rehabilitation, growth and competitiveness.
The priority areas of Industrial Policy include revival of sick units, rehabilitation of infrastructure and
allied facilities in existing Industrial estates, establishment of sector specific Economic Zones, Special
Economic Zones, encouragement of Small & Medium Sized Enterprises / Cottage industry and
development of technically skilled human capital as per requirement of the Industry in the Province
besides fiscal, financial, non-financial incentives and credit schemes for SMEs.
• The objective is to transform the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into an attractive industrial and business
destination in the region through its: “Open Door” policy. Supporting relocation of industries and
embracing the new modern technologies in the province will make the KP’s industrial sector to
compete at National and Global level.

• First ever Commerce and Trade Strategy 2020 of the Province has been designed. The objective is
to promote and facilitate Commerce & Trade activities through facilitation, targeted market
interventions, improving business climate, encouraging e-commerce and integrating the domestic
commerce with regional and international supply chain. The strategy is also supporting cross border
trade.
Salient features of the Commerce & Trade Strategy are to achieve progress in different areas including
the following:

• Commercial Practices through effective regulations and addressing regulatory imbalances

• Commercial and economic landscape of NMDs (Newly merged districts)

• To serve the objective of creating a business enabling environment, first phase of

the Ease of Doing Business have yielded positive results in attracting investors,
promoting industrial activities and building investor’s confidence in the province.
• keeping in view the expectations of investors and to meet with the differential
needs of industrialization in the province, the immediate launching of the phase-II
of Ease of Doing Business Project is of paramount importance for which all the
necessary steps should be completed on a fast track basis.
• Government has introduced multiple incentives which have resulted in a
substantial increase in industrialization by attracting domestic and foreign
investors.
• Keeping in view the crucial role of industrialization, the Government has devised a
multipronged strategy in which Industry is one of the sectors that rank high on the
priority list. Due to its wide-ranging economic impact, Industrialization is vital as a
source of poverty reduction, and employment generation.
 Status of business and industrial activity in KP

A wide range of industrial activity has just begun in terms of providing industrial facilities
to existing and new industrialists in two of the Special Economic Zones.
Number of Zone Enterprises has been encouraged and facilitated to perform their
projects on the schedule and to generate a speedy economic activity. Few of them are
following;
• Pak Fareed Steels – HSEZ
• Kulal Ceramics – HSEZ
• Daudsons – RSEZ
• Coca Cola (Turkish Investors) – HIE
• Ghani Chemicals – HSEZ
KP-BOIT is also intended and dedicated to uplift & promote Tourism industry as a second
major contributory to the economy.
The third major potential sector to cope with is Mines and Minerals.
 Prospects, issues and challenges being faced by industrial sector in KP

• The prospects of pure industrial sector i.e. manufacturing is very clear and
bright but in order to cope with issues like awareness, communication barriers,
willingness to working for mutual interests, encouraging public private
partnership and building capacity on such modalities are important to adopt.
• KPBOIT is devoted to break the chain and create an environment where every
individual or a group of individuals will feel safe in getting equal opportunity in
a transparent way with the help of several digital/online platforms.
• Contentedly several issue related to industrialists were being resolved over
periodic meetings and visits regarding environment protection, electricity
problems, land disputes etc..
