Ivan Stepanovich Marchuk

Ivan Stepanovich Marchuk is a Ukrainian lawyer and politician who served as Chairman of the
Ukrainian Parliament from 2018 to 2019. He was born in the village of Velika Pysarivka in the
Zhytomyr region of Ukraine in 1957.

Marchuk completed his law degree at the Kyiv National University in 1980 and went on to
work for the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice as a senior legal consultant. Over the years, he held
various positions in the Ukrainian government, including Deputy Minister of Justice, Chairman
of the Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee, and Chairman of the National Agency for
Prevention of Corruption.

In 2006, Marchuk was appointed as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council,
serving in that position until 2010. He was also a member of the Verkhovna Rada (the
Ukrainian Parliament) from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2014 to 2019.

In 2018, Marchuk was elected as Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, serving in that
position until May 2019. He was known for his commitment to anti-corruption efforts and his
efforts to strengthen the rule of law in Ukraine. In 2021, Marchuk was appointed as the
President's Representative in the Verkhovna Rada, where he continues to serve today.
