Introduction to cloud computing

( Layers in cloud computing and types of clouds )

LECT -7- Introduction to cloud computing

 Cloud Computing is define as the delivery of

computing services such as servers, storage,
databases, networking, software, analytics,
intelligence, and more, over the Cloud Internet.
 Cloud computing is made up of a variety of
layered elements, starting at the most basic
physical layer of storage and server
infrastructure and working up through the
application and network layers.
Layers in Cloud Computing
The three cloud layers are:
 Infrastructure cloud: Abstracts applications

from servers and servers from storage

 Content cloud: Abstracts data from
applications
 Information cloud: Abstracts access from
clients to data

Explanation Layers of cloud Computing

 An infrastructure cloud includes the physical

components that run applications and store
data. Virtual servers are created to run
applications, and virtual storage pools are
created to house new and existing data into
dynamic tiers of storage based on performance
and reliability requirements.
Function of Content Cloud layer
 The main function of a content cloud is to
abstract the data from the applications so that
different applications can be used to access the
same data, and applications can be changed
without worrying about data structure or type.
Function of Information cloud layer.
 The information cloud is the ultimate goal of
cloud computing and the most common from a
public perspective. The information cloud
abstracts the client from the data.
 For example, a user can access data stored in a
database in Norway via a mobile phone in
Atlanta, or watch a video located on a server in
London from his a laptop in the United States of
America . The information cloud abstracts
everything from everything. The Internet is an
information cloud.
Types of cloud in
cloud computing

Private cloud
Multi -
cloud
Explanation of clouds in cloud computing.

 Public Clouds – It is managed by third

parties which provide cloud services over the
internet to the public, these services are
available as pay-as-you-go billing models.
 Private clouds – These are the distributed
systems that work on private infrastructure
and provide the users with dynamic
provisioning of computing resources.
 Hybrid cloud: -
A hybrid cloud is a heterogeneous distributed
system formed by combining facilities of the
public cloud and private cloud.

 Community clouds – Community clouds are

distributed systems created by integrating the
services of different clouds to address the
specific needs of an industry, a community, or
a business sector.
Multicloud Defination
Multicloud – It is a type of cloud which can use
of multiple cloud computing services from
different providers, which allows organizations
to use the best-suited services for their specific
needs and avoid vendor lock-in.
Advantages of using Multi -cloud
Advantages of using multi-cloud:
 Flexibility: Using multiple cloud providers allows organizations to choose

the best-suited services for their specific needs, and avoid vendor lock-in.

 Cost-effectiveness: Organizations can take advantage of the cost savings

and pricing benefits offered by different cloud providers for different
services.

 Improved performance: By distributing workloads across multiple cloud

providers, organizations can improve the performance and availability of
their applications and services.

 Increased security: Organizations can increase the security of their data

and applications by spreading them across multiple cloud providers and
implementing different security strategies for each.
Design Features of cloud.
 1. Resources Pooling-

 It means that the Cloud provider pulled the

computing resources to provide services to
multiple customers with the help of a multi-
tenant model. There are different physical and
virtual resources assigned and reassigned
which depends on the demand of the customer.
Design Features of cloud.
 2. On-Demand Self-Service
 It is one of the important and valuable features of Cloud
Computing as the user can continuously monitor the
server uptime, capabilities, and allotted network
storage. With this feature, the user can also monitor the
computing capabilities.

 3. Easy Maintenance
 The servers are easily maintained and the downtime is
very low and even in some cases, there is no downtime.
Cloud Computing comes up with an update every time
by gradually making it better.
Main Function of Infrastructure
Management of cloud computing
 Cloud infrastructure management main function is that
it provides processes and tools needed to effectively
allocate and deliver key resources when and where
they are required .

 Cloud infrastructure management is like a command

center or central nervous system for cloud
environments.

 Cloud infrastructure management is ultimately what

makes the potential of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud
strategies both attainable and sustainable.
