IDEATE, INNOVATE & INCUBATE!!
Entrepreneurship Cell IITK aims to foster the spirit
of entrepreneurship among the students. It
encourages young minds & nurtures their
innovative impactful ideas. It helps to transform
unique ideas into successful start-ups. E-Cell
constitutes of 9 verticals namely events, media &
publicity, marketing, finance & logistics, business
development, SIP, startup development, design &
web development!!
E-Summit, TEDx IITK, EE, Startup 101 & Upstart
are some of its many famous programs held across
the year.
❖ Reducing branch specific internships, focus will be to open
opportunities for all branches equally. Moreover, students to
be selected more by their skills and hard-work reflecting on
their Resumes’ rather than differentiation on basis of branch.

❖ Creating a “Request Internship” Option on SIP portal. This


option will give students opportunity to apply for an
internship in a company irrespective of the branch.

❖ Lack of foreign internships. SIP lacks the power to attract


more and more international startups.
CHANGES &
❖ Too much emphasis on IT sector. There are very few
REFORMS internships offering core experience of branches (CHE, ME,
EE, CE). Increasing the number of such real/core internships
is required for the growth of both E-Cell as well as IITK.

❖ Adding of a detailed presentation explaining the benefits and


the influence of SIP on the youth as well as the emerging
entrepreneurs while mailing the invitation to Startups. This
can vastly increase our influence in the foreign market as well
as the Indian market.
HOW TO IMPLEMENT THE
IDEAS??...
❑ Too much discrimination on basis of Departments can be normalized by creating a basic
preliminary round for all candidates. The companies can look into the results of the
preliminary round to select the candidates rather than being branch specific.
❑ What if the company denies for the preliminary round? – we can also offer previous year’s
statistics showing the skills and achievements of our various departments. Creating a “Special
Request” option for certain companies so that if a student meets certain pre-requisites offered
by the company then he/she can apply for the internship irrespective of the branch.
❑ Lack of foreign internships is a major cause of decreasing interest and growth of SIP. The
process to gather more number of foreign startups is quite difficult. What I think can be done
is that every secretary will have to connect SIP with 1or more foreign startup during his/her
tenure, the secretaries will have LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. all social media
handles to connect with them as well as the official company website, mailing etc. for
establishing a mode of communication.
IMPLEMENTING IDEAS
CONTD……
❑ The area which I found to be the most crowded was the IT/Coding sector. A bulk of
internships were offered during the SIP period. There are students in our campus doing basic
core engineering (CHE,ME,EE) and they never participate in SIP, the main reason behind this
is that SIP does not offer core internships.
❑ SIP lacks influence on the global scale. The chunk of followers of SIP on social media
handles are students and not recruiters. A detailed presentation can be mailed along with the
invites to startups highlighting the benefits and profits of SIP. Also, we can connect with the
Alumni’s of IITK and advertise through them, we must increase the advertisement of SIP in
the global entrepreneurship circle.
TIMELINE FOR SIP 2022
▪ MAY – Holding interviews of candidates for the post of secretaries and selection of
secretaries.
▪ JUNE – SEPTEMBER – Appointment of Secretaries & Working on Making a detailed
database of Startups. Division of secretaries into various verticals for pitching diverse fields.
Extending the Database & connecting with them on social media handles. Division of
secretaries into groups. Further, particular groups will focus on a particular field. Also
assigning secretaries for focusing main on the foreign startups.
▪ OCTOBER – DECEMBER – Calling the startups and convincing them to join the SIP.
Sending out the invites. Conducting a live session with seniors sharing their experience of
internship through SIP in Dec 2021.
▪ JANUARY – Holding key sessions like The Resume-Making session which will provide
guidance to the candidates applying for SIP. Sending the application mail to IITK Students!
Resume Verification after the application closes.
▪ FEBURARY – APRIL – SIP Process begins!! Continuous recruitment of startups in Phases.
✔ Recruiting a total of 27 secretaries for SIP 2022. Out of

TEAM the 27 secretaries 15 will be UG’s and 12 will be PG’s.
