Mittimus – is a warrant issued by a court bearing its seal and signature of the judge,
directing the prison or jail authorities to receive the convicted offender for service of
sentence imposed therein.

Reception Procedure in Jail
1. Careful checking of persons credentials

personnel
6. Fingerprinting procedure

Office, Provincial Office and Jail Files)

Classification Board
Conduct background investigation of the inmates to determine the work
assignment , type of supervision and degree of custody and restrictions under
which the inmates must in jail.

Disciplinary Board
Shall be organized and maintained in jail for purposes of hearing involving
any inmate who violate jail rules and regulations.

Disciplinary Sanctions
1. Reprimand
2. Temporary or permanent cancelation of some or all recreational
privilege
3. Cancelation of visiting privilege
4. Extra-fatigue duty
5. Close confinement in a separate cell in not more than 7 days
6. Forfeiture of Good Conduct Time Allowance for the month and
subsequent months depending upon the gravity of the offense.
Treatment Procedures

Female
1. Women’s quarter should fully separated from the male quarter
2. Handling and supervision must be done by a female jail staff
3. In larger cities must be provided by a resident matron who shall keep the keys and is
available at all times
4. No male offender shall be allowed to enter in the women’s quarter
5. Only works suitable to their age and physical condition should be assigned to female
inmates
6. Special accommodation for pre-natal care
7. Nursing infants should be allowed in the institution with their mother
8. Inmate-mother has the right to be with her child inside the institution until the child
first year birthday.
