INTRODUCTION

ITS is the integrated application of advanced technologies using electronics,

computers ,communications ,and advanced sensors. These applications provide travelers with
Important information while improving the safety and efficiency of the transportation system.

INTRODUCTIO
N
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a collective term for all the theory and developments that enable
computer systems to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. Examples include visual
perception (e.g. recognizing objects) and recognizing and processing spoken language. In addition, AI
includes the automatic controlling of other systems through algorithms, and making decisions about
such systems, so that they can function optimally. An example of this is using AI to control the traffic
system to optimize traffic flow.

Although the definitions of traffic management differ, put simply, the aim of traffic management is to
influence traffic supply and demand in such a way that traffic demands and the capacity supply of the
network are better matched, both in time and space. The problems encountered on the road network mainly
concern specific bottlenecks and moments (i.e. peak hours, incidents, and events). By spreading traffic
demand or dynamically adapting the supply of infrastructure, the existing road network can be better
utilized. Typical traffic management measures include ramp metering, dynamic speed limits, peak hour
lanes, but also traffic information communicated through panels above the road or other channels.

METHODOLOGY

Artificial neural network methodology used in ITS

 Artificial Neural Networks are based on the mathematical model of neuron proposed by McCulloch and Pitts in
1943 , and they can be considered as a processing paradigm that works similarly to the human brain. ANNs
present some features, such as adaptive learning, self- organization, and fault tolerance, and they are usually
implemented to solve problems related to pattern recognition, data coding, optimization, and data mining

Now a days IT force us to handle more and more information in very short time. That is why it is inevitable to
construct and use such technical devices which are able to sort out important information from quantity and
according to its design suitable solution for current situation, perhaps even predict following situation. These
complicated problems are partially solved by neural networks utilizing knowledge about data organizing and
administration in human brain.

Artificial neural nets definition

Artificial neural nets can be defined as massive parallel computing system open to saving and following
execution of information while simulating human brain in collecting data during learning process and saving
of these data using inter-neural connections.
Artificial neural nets are one of the options in situations where there are no strict rules according to which it is
possible to simulate result of the situation or where these rules are too complex or incomplete. Statistical
methods, multi-agent systems or adaptive computing systems are further alternatives. It is suitable to use
standard AI methods when rules are known. 04/26/2023

MATLAB SOFTWARE

What is MATLAB ?

 MATLAB is a high-performance language for technical computing

 MATLAB stands for MATRIX Laboratory.

 MATLAB was designed by CleveMoler (American mathematician

and computer Programmer).

Why we use MATLAB
 High level & HIGH performance language for technical computing.

 MATLAB has vast application in the field of science and technology.

 MATLAB integrates computation, visualization , and programming in an

easy-to-use environment where Problems and solutions are expressed in
familiar mathematical notation.

MATLAB Data processing

 In MATLAB spend less time to preprocessing Data.

 From MATLAB sensor data to image to text.
 MATLAB software significantly reduce the time required to preprocess data.
 MATLAB software Automate ground-truth labelling of image , video ,
and Audio data.

MATLAB Computer vision

 MATLAB used image processing.

 Identify the which type of vehicles passing in signals.
 IN MATLAB makes images is processing 3D Data if necessary.
 This computer vision in MATLAB easily identify the vehicle number.

Future Scope

 ITS It paints a picture of the field and its latest, state-of-the-art innovations, and
looks a head at opportunities for the future.

 Current applications show which AI technologies are already mature, which data
sources are useful, and what lessons can be learned from them.

 The focus is mainly on applications that have already been implemented or tested as
pilots.

 For future applications, the focus is on those applications that domain experts
expect to generate the greatest improvements in terms of traffic flow, safety, and
sustainability, while also looking at what the possible pitfalls and challenges could
be during implementation.

 For the selected future applications, experts expect implementation to be possible

within one to five years. 04/26/2023

CONCLUSION

 To change the road culture, includes stronger levels to traffic

regulation and enforcement.

 ITS holds a good in providing us a good, safe, and secure journey.

 In ITS reduce collision due to stop-start nature of traffic congested areas.

 ITS give smooth traffic flow.

 ITS reduces the road accidents.

 Information provided through this system for emergency services as

soon as an incident occur.

 ITS provide co-operative , which involves communication between vehicle and

roadside infrastructure.
