SAP SuccessFactors EC-Advanced FO & Employee Data Management

FO Association
• Associations enable you to define relationships between Foundation Objects and their records.
• The associations themselves are built in the Foundation Object configurations, either on the MDF Object or
within the XML.
• The standard pre-delivered configuration in Employee Central also includes some standard pre-built
associations, such as the Location object with pre-built association with Legal Entity object; Pay Range
object with pre-built association with Pay grade object.
• The associations built on the FO records must also align with the behavior on the employee files.

Internal Integration Using HRIS Synchronization
•  is the sync of data from Employee Central to User Data Tables and the Employee Profile. HRIS Sync
is a one way (unidirectional) sync of EC data to populate the talent data to support the other modules
of SAP SuccessFactors.
• HRIS sync is a background quartz job that periodically looks for data that has been changed in
Employee Central and updates the legacy user tables with data from EC.

Translating FO Data
• To display information in the user’s language, you can translate the language-specific data of FO, such
as the name and description of the department, business unit, or job classification. The translation
process is handled differently for the following:
• ● Job Classification FO (technical name: job Code)
• ● All other FO (except job Code)

Managing RBP for Self Services Access

• RBP for ESS, you can see an example of ESS. ESS is a feature that allows an employee to initiate and complete
transactions for an employee file without HR assistance.
-RBP typically has three parts:
• The granted population is all employees.
• The role is the permission to view and edit the phone number.
• The target population is themselves.

RBP for MSS

MSS allows a manager to initiate HR transactions such as promotions or transfers for their direct reports using the
Take Action button.
These changes are known as transactions and might require a configurable approval process called a workflow.

Customize self-services Transactions Using Workflow

• Workflows are part of the self-service process.
• When an employee or manager makes a change, a
workflow is activated.
• Workflows are generally built in the implementation
process.
• The role of the administrator is to ensure the
completion of workflows and to manage the
workflow participants.

you can see a sample workflow with three approvers.

The approvers are a manager, second-level manager,
and an HR Dynamic Group. The third approver, HR

     Event Reason Derivation

Event Reason Derivation (ERD) is a process that can be set up for your customer so that the system
automatically selects the appropriate event reason according to what changes have been made to an
employee's data. Depending on the event reason

• Events and event reasons allow you to keep track of

changes to an employee record.

• Event reason records are managed in the Manage

Organization, Pay and Job Structures interface.

This is important for two reasons:

1. It keeps clear reporting about what changes were
made.
2. It helps you to comply with legal or corporate policy
regarding employee changes.

Utilizing MDF In EC
• The Metadata Framework (MDF) is a
platform that enables consultants and
customers to extend SAP SuccessFactors
applications.

•  MDF is not a feature of Employee Central

but rather it is included and enabled at the
platform level to be used by any SAP
SuccessFactors product whether EC is
enabled or not.

• Metadata Framework is like a blank

canvas. You take the requirements you
have and you build it.

Customize MDF Object Using Configurable UI

• Configurable UI allows you to change the visual display of
 Meta-Data Framework (MDF) objects.

• Transform MDF Objects, is an example of a

standard MDF Object and a customized UI
for the same MDF object. For the customized
object, the layout is streamlined and the
sections are made collapsible.

Creating Configurable Rule Using Rules Engine

MDF Rules:
● Initializing the default value for field(s) within an object
● Changing the value of field(s) based on the selection of a value in another field
● Validating the set of values in the fields before saving an object instance and firing off a validation
message in case of an error
● Creating Dynamic UI Behavior: for example, hiding or showing a field or a group of fields

the same time.
The EC UI has the following recently-added functions and
features:

● Management of multiple employments at one point in time.

● Creation and termination of Concurrent Employment (CE).

● Architecture that follows the concept of Global Assignments

(GA). That is to say, one person, one user account, and one
user ID per employment.

● Management of CE using the EC UI . For example, search results, switch between employments, and so
on.

extended leave.
