What is a atom?
An atom consists of a central
nucleus that is surrounded by one or
more negatively charged electrons.
The nucleus is positively charged
and contains one or more relatively
heavy particles known as protons
and neutrons.

How are Atoms formed?
About 13.8 billion years ago,
almost simultaneously with
the birth of the universe in the
Big Bang, electrons, protons
and neutrons were born. Then
came the birth of hydrogen
atoms and helium atoms from
protons and neutrons. Then
stars were born, with gravity.
Facts about atoms?
● Atoms are incredibly
small(measuring one-tenth of a
billionth of a metre across)
● They are so small that you can't see
them even under a powerful
microscope.
● Because they are so small, it takes
trillions of atoms to make up
anything
● for example, there are 7 billion billion
billion atoms in your body.
● John Dalton is known as father of
atoms and atomic theory.
● Atoms were first called the
“untouchables”
