What is drug abuse

The use of illegal drugs or the use of prescription or over-the-


counter drugs for purposes other than which they are meant to be
used, or in excessive amounts.

MDMA commonly known as Ecstasy or Molly

Methamphetamine commonly known as Crystals or Meth

PCP commonly known as Angel Dust

Prescription Opioids commonly known as Percs

Cocaine commonly as Coke


What are these drugs and the effect they have on your mental health

MDMA is a synthetic drug that acts as a stimulant and hallucinogen. It produces an


energizing effect, distortions in time, perception and enhanced enjoyment from sensory
experiences. It has also been described an entactogen- a drug that can increase self
awareness and empathy
Methamphetamine (Crystals or Meth)

Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that affects the central


nervous system. This drug causes increased in activity, talkativeness and a
decrease in appetite and a pleasurable sense of well being
PCP (Angel Dust)

Pcp is one of the several hallucinogens. It can also work as a stimulant, anesthetic or a
painkiller.
Prescription Opiods

Prescription Opiods (PERCS) these are drugs prescribed by doctors to stop pain.
Abusing these pills can induse symptoms of depression, such as social withdraws and
sleep disturbances
Cocaine (Coke)

Cocaine (coke) is a central nervous system stimulant. As an extract it is mainly used


recreationally and often ilegally for its euphoric effects. The brain begins to adopt and
gradually requires moe and more of the drug for the abuser to feel normal.
