What Is Product
Assortment?
 Choosing a product to sell is the first step towards sales of any kind. However, have you ever wondered how

sellers decide on what exactly they want to sell? Personal preference kept aside, there is a logically sound

way to go about choosing the products that will make the sale – known as Product Assortment

 Product Assortment is the collection of goods or services that a business provides to consumers

 In other words, your product assortment is a mix of products you choose to maximize your chances of selling

Product Assortment is very important when sellers are choosing what they want to put up for sale in their
store. It has a direct correlation with increasing sales simply because;

 The more attractive assortments you include - The higher the chances of products appearing on Daraz

 The more the customers view the products - The higher the chances of clicks and store visits

 The more the store visits - The higher the probability of getting a sale
How To Create Attractive
Assortment
Assortment basically consists of the products that you have up for sale in your store
Hence, in order to create and maintain an attractive assortment, sellers must think from the product point
of view. There are certain ways to improve your assortment

your SKUs and manage them routinely as
that is what makes up your assortment

 If you want to view and manage your


products, Log into Seller Center – Select
the Products tab – Click on Manage

• On the Product Overview page, you can also edit the content of the
products that make up your assortment

• Retail Price – increase or decrease the price according to what you


want

• Available – this refers to the available stock of a specific product.


Keep this up to date to avoid any problems
• Click on Actions and select Edit Details to revise all product details
such as name, description etc.

• Copy Listing can be used to create similar SKUs with minor changes
• Manage Product Images can be used to edit, add, delete or update
product images

• Delete Products removes the entire product along with all details from
the list

• Creating Bundles out of your assortment allows you to sell a lower-priced item at a discount as part of a
bundle which enhances overall customer experience and increases sales. Bundles gives you an opportunity to
clear out inventory of the selected products of your choice

 One of the ways Daraz maximizes sales is through
campaigns, which help sellers reach their goals in
terms of growth and sales with confidence and ease
 Campaigns help attract customers by providing
special deals, offers and discounts– all of which
promote your assortment even more as emails, push
notifications and SMS alerts are sent to raise
awareness of different campaigns
 About 20% of the sales are made via items in
campaigns
 Through campaigns, there is higher visibility  more

Flash Sales have greatly reduced prices that
only lasts for only a short period of time.
Flash sales though short, attract a lot of
customers due their exclusivity

The quantity is limited, which often means


the discounts are higher or more significant
compared to other sales or campaigns

Flash Sales work well with overstocks and


discontinued assortment, or when a seller is
looking for a boost in sales for a limited time
period
Improving Assortment
Assortment refers to the products you put up for sale on your store. In order to make sure it goes live & is
approved by the QC team (which takes up to 4 days), it’s wise to keep the following possible rejection reasons
in mind & make sure to avoid them when uploading products

Wrong Category: Product must be tagged in its relevant category categories


within the category tree
No scribbles are allowed: No watermark or scribbles are allowed on
Additional Poses Required: Clear and more than one image must be images
provided to give customers better clarity of the product
Features missing / insufficient information: Accurate information
Incorrect Brand Name: Brand name should be genuine and the one should be provided about the product with detailed description and
that is shown in the image or mentioned on the product. Misleading, specification depending on the type of product you’re selling to avoid
incorrect and fake brand names are not allowed QC rejection

What’s in the box missing: If the image and the description shows Product not allowed on website: Daraz doesn’t allow products
more than one item then it must be mentioned in “What’s in the box” prohibited by law, counterfeit, religious or products that are dangerous
section along with the quantity. This includes the accessories or any
other item that is included Other Reason: If the product does not seem appropriate and as per
Daraz standards for reasons other than the ones mentioned above, it is

Hot Selling Items To Add To Your
Assortment
If you are wondering which products you should add in your
assortment, or which products will do particularly well – there
are certain hot selling items

These hot selling items differ for each category and you can
view the one ones relevant to your online brand in the Daraz
Insights Handbook by clicking on the button

It is wise to keep an eye out for what’s on trend online and in Click Here

Assortment – Prohibited Items
• Daraz has a defined list of products which are considered
counterfeit, dangerous or prohibited by law

• Sellers cannot add these specified products in their assortment


under any circumstances

• All registered sellers must abide by Daraz Guidelines and


Policies regarding these prohibited items

• Some examples include narcotics, counterfeit products, alcoholic Click Here

Assortment – Restricted Brands
Daraz has a defined list of restricted brands

Sellers will be unable to add these brands in their assortment of


products, until and unless they are an authorized distributor of
that brand

All registered sellers must abide by Daraz Guidelines and Policies


regarding these restricted brands

Authorization For Assortment

If any seller claims that they are the


only authorized dealer for a specific Similarly, medicinal products are
