Asking and Giving Opinion
Asking and giving opinion is a way that someone does to ask and give
opinions to others.
Asking opinion
 Asking opinion is an expression of asking someone’s to convey their ideas, ideas or
thoughts about something.

Giving opinion
 Giving opinion is an expression of giving an opinion about something, or responding to
someone who asks our opinion about something.
When We Used Asking and Giving Opinion?
Asking and giving opinion used when there is a dialogue or interactive dialogue
to discuss something.

Expressions Used in Asking and Giving Opinion

1. Asking Opinion
a. Expression of Asking Opinion in Formal Situation
This type of asking for opinion applies when in a formal (official) situation. For example,
during a business meeting with colleagues, asking about responses from teachers or
lecturers.

Asking and giving opinion is included in an interrogative sentence with the aim of
getting a response or answer from the other person. Here's an example sentence:

Formal:
a. Would you give me your opinion on the marketing team's strategic plan to
prepare for the new school’s academic year?
b. Please give me your thoughts on the material about managerial finance in our
class tonight.
c. Have you got any comments on the presidential debate last night?

Informal:
a. Sinta, any comments for my makeup look today?
b. What do you think about Rara’s outfit of the day?
c. How about our new neighbor?

Giving Opinion Example
Because the nature of the giving opinion is a "response" from the asking opinion, in
general the types of sentences in the giving opinion are included in the declarative
sentence. Here are some example sentences:
Formal:
a. In my point of view, this business pitch does not explain the company's goals for
the next 5 years.
b. I feel that we should be looking for influencers who reflect that education is very
important.
c. I personally believe that the best way to lose weight is with a calorie deficit.

Informal:
a. Not everyone will agree with me, but Siwon Choi is not as handsome as people
say.
b. I think that your spaghetti is too salty.
c. As far as I know, brown rice has good fiber and is better than white rice.
