• Start a PESTLE in appropriate groups.
• Where can you obtain information from (use of Library databases and
sources)
• What are the six key factors likely to impact on the organisation in the
next five years. Do they represent opportunities or threats?

Carry out a simple resources and capabilities analysis based on
what you know to work on the organisation’s internal strengths
and weaknesses.

Your situation analysis should include the following:
• A diagnosis of the external environment:
The current status of the country/region: Spain (PESTEL)
The current status of the sector/industry: Research, Development and Innovation Sector (Porter’s 5
Forces)
The current status of the markets and competitors
As a result of the above, an identification of five/six key factors likely to impact on the organisation
in the next 3-5 years. Could they be translated into opportunities or threats?
• A diagnosis of the internal environment:
A brief description of the company, including MVV
If possible, a description and analysis of the Business Strategy (Corporate, Competitive and Functional)
An analysis of the organisation’s organisational culture
The current status of the organization: Protofy.xyz (SWOT)
An analysis of the resources and capabilities of the organisation (VRIO)
As a result of the above, an identification of some key factors likely to become a competitive
advantage of the organisation against its competitors
