ABSTRACT

• The uses of electricity have increased from the last decade. With the growth of technology, the need for
electricity has increased.
• Electricity is necessary to run our computers, lights, fans, air conditioners, washing machines, water
heaters, street lights and more. We have numerous applications but we produce limited electric power.
• Since generation of more electric power to meet the demand is difficult, an easier solution would be to
manage the available electric power efficiently.
• The energy management deals with the conservation of resources and our concern is the electric power.
• Energy management also has an added advantage of reduced resource cost due to increase in efficient
usage and decrease in wastage.
INTRODUCTION

• Nowadays, the electrical energy monitoring system that has been used is by installing
conventional electrical measuring devices on the electrical circuit.
• The time complicated interlocking and operation controlling requirements involved in Energy
Management, which lead to necessity of automation of the undergoing process.
• In this respect, Energy Management automation, which is the creation of a highly reliable, self-
healing power system that rapidly responds to real time events with appropriate actions, ensures
to maintain uninterrupted power services to the end users with smart monitoring and maintaining
of databases.
• Then it is necessary to design a system that can be used for monitoring electricity consumption
using the IoT concept in real-time and long-distance .

• The term “INTERNET” refers to the vast category of applications and protocols built on
top of sophisticated and interconnected computer networks, serving billions of users
everywhere in the world in 24/7 fashion. We all realize that electricity energy meters are
installed in everyone’s house or offices to count the electricity consumption based on
traditional technology. At the end of each month, many folk get worried about the high
electricity bill and that we need to check out the energy meter once in a while.

• The effort of collecting electricity utility meter reading. Internet of Things (IoT) present an efficient
and coeffective to transfer the information of energy consumer wirelessly as well as it provides to
detect the usage of the electricity the main intention of this project is measure electricity consumption
in home appliances and generate it's bill automatically using IoT.

• We can see a person standing in front of our house from electricity board, whose duty is to
read the energy meter and handover the bills to the owner of that house every month. This
is nothing but meter reading. According to that reading we have to pay the bills. The main
drawback of this system is that person has to go area by area and he has to read the meter
of every house and handover the bills

• The IoT based smart energy meter is based on Ardiuno. In this system we reduce the
human participation in electrical energy maintenance. The theft of the electricity
increases the costs paid by customer. Hence this system is used for the detection of
theft. The Arduino checks the main meter and sub meter reading. If the difference
between the main meter and sub meter is occurred then that theft has occurred message
will be display on the LCD display and also display on the thingspeak.

• In our day to day life electricity plays a vital role. India has power generating capacity of 334.4
gigawatt as of January 2018. The primary energy consumption of India is the 3rd biggest after China
and U.S.A with 5.6% of the global share in 2018. The main objective of this project is to make people
aware about the power consumption in our day to day life so that we can save energy. There will be a
particular peak value set in the system and if the power consumption exceeds the particular value set,
then the alarm will start buzzing. And also, the project will give notification about the power theft,
power cut and overloading by using PIC16F877A micro-controller and a GSM module (Global
System for Mobile Communication).
EXISTING SYSTEM

• The electrical energy monitoring system that has been used is by installing conventional electrical
measuring devices on the electrical circuit. However, this method has shortcomings because to find
out the results of the monitor, and consumers must be directed at the location where the measuring
instrument is installed.
• The already existing system is having lot of complexities in before that they are all using to measure
the ac current using current transformer.
• A current transformer can only sense current down to some minimum frequency below which gain
falls off rapidly. A current transformer can't sense a fixed current.
• If you are measuring current of something that is inherently AC, like the power line, then a current
transformer can be appropriate. If you really need to sense DC current, then you can't use a current
transformer.
PROPOSED SYSTEM

• We are proposed the project to give the notification to the consumer side how much power they consumed depend
upon the units once the units is reach above Threshold value automatically give the notification to the consumer side.
• And depend upon the consumption LDR Sensor will indicate the impulse using the inbuilt LED. Using IOT we will be
able to set the mail alerts for particular threshold value.
• Placing the current sensor and Voltage sensor in the transmitter side and receiver side if any one theft the power in-
between the lines receiver side is get analyse power consumption automatically gives the indication through the IOT.
• We are going use machine learning algorithms for the current and voltage sensors value prediction.
• This recurrent machine learning model will forecast electricity bill and notify users if abnormal energy consumption
of individual home appliances is detected,
