Early Life
● Born: February 15, 1564

● He was the eldest son, who lived in


Pisa until 1574 when his family
moved to Florence.

● Galileo originally intended to be a


medical professional, however at
the age of 18 he learned about
math, physics, and art.

● At age 22 he published a book on


hydrostatic balance.

● At age 24 Galileo became an Art


Teacher.
Scientific career
● Job Titles: Natural philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician

● Galileo’s first math/physics job was working as a private tutor in Florence


and Siena.

● During that time period he created a new form of hydrostatic balance for
weighing small quantities.

● In 1588 he gave two lectures at Florentine Academy.

● Due to his theorems of centres of gravity he obtained the chair of


mathematics at the University of Pisa in 1589.

● In 1592 his construct at the University of Pisa was not renewed, so he


moved to the University of Padua as the chair of mathematics until 1610.

Experiments Conclusion

One of Galileo's experiments consisted of him From this experiment he concluded that
dropping bodies of differing weights off of the Aristotle's beliefs on gravity were incorrect, but
leaning tower of Pisa. Archimedes was closer.
