Comments And Suggestions From The Defence Panel

• The panel suggested refining the project aim, as the literature review suggested that trapezoidal
solar cookers would likely give the best results.

• The panel recommended considering alternative goals, such as verifying other simulations or
validating experiments in research papers.
Project Progress Report (Post 1st Semester Defense)

• Explanation of the assumptions made for the simulation and overview of the governing equations
to be used, including the Navier-Stokes equations for momentum and continuity.

• Material selection, meshing of the 3D models and description of the boundary and initial
conditions to be applied to each component of the 3D models

• Obtained parameters required by the solar calculator of the Autodesk CFD solar calculator to
compute the true view factors. which were the:
o Longitude and Latitude of the location (Akoka, Lagos) to perform the experiment
o Time (10:00 am) and date (April, 2023) of the experiment
Further Work to be Done

• Run the Autodesk CFD solver and conduct CFD simulations on the presented CAD models

• Compare performance using F1 and F2 Scheme developed by (S. C. Mullick et al) which is now a
standard for measuring the efficiency of solar cookers.

• Construct the solar cooker with the best performance and validate simulation results with
experiments.
